Are Saturn cars still being produced?

No, Saturn had the highest US content of all vehicles sold. Of all vehicles sold in the US, they were arguably the best value and the best decision for the US economy. The engine, as well as most of the rest of the vehicle, was made in Spring Hill TN.

Where is the fuse for the brake lights on a 2002 Saturn sc2?

I found it! It is on the passenger side, open door and there is a handle/ round half circle opening on the side of dash which needs to be pulled hard to pop off. I had checked this spot several times but didn't pull hard enough, cuz I didn't wanna break it.

How do you fix a no spark problem on a 1998 Saturn sl?

How do you remove the fan control module on a 2002 Saturn L200?

In front of the battery to the right, you will see the FCM in a rectangular black box. Pull the box straight up after depressing the plastic tab that secures the FCM to the mounting plate on the battery side. The FCM circuit board is inside and accessible after you remove the two wire connectors and the plastic top to the black box.

How do you fix sunroof on 95 Saturn SC2 that will not open?

I'm not an expert but I can tell you what I did. The sunroof on my wife's 95 Saturn sc2 would not close all the way, had to reverse it and try again several times to get it to close. This was in 1997 and it was still under warranty. The dealer replaced the track and it fixed the problem. Have to keep the track lubed, they have a certain grease at the dealer they recommend for this. Then in 2007 it started the same thing again. After finally getting it closed it would not work period anymore. The motor didn't even make a sound. I took it to the dealer for a transmission problem and asked them to look at the sunroof too. They said it would cost upwards of $800.00 to $1000.00 to fix and to tell my wife just to leave it closed. They said the whole thing needed replaced. I worked on it myself, have to take the headliner frame part of the way down to access the motor and wiring and the black box which I think is the relay module. I started testing for power at the switch and moved on. I had power to the motor but it didn't make a sound so I thought the motor was bad. Got a new one at the dealer for about $190.00. Went home to install it. When I took the old one loose the gear on the motor was kind of binded with the spiral rod that it drives to open and close the sunroof. I got it loose and plugged the motor back in for the heck of it and it came on. So I reinstalled it and the sunroof now works. Took the new motor back to the dealer since I didn't need it and talked to them about my experience. They thought it was odd too. We figured what may have happened is since the motor gear and the spiral gear jammed on the last use the motor heated up getting the sunroof closed and tripped the relay but it didn't reset for some reason. If you operate the motor back and forth continuous for a little while the motor heats up and trips the relay but it resets itself after the motor cools down. It is supposed to anyway. It still works, every once in a while I have the not closing all the way issue. I reverse it and try again. A few tries and it closes. I just make sure not to overheat the motor now. And make sure I lubricate it regularly. Not sure if this will help you out or not, just thought I would share my experience with the sunroof problem.

What would cause the dash lights to come on when the brakes are pressed in a 98 Saturn sl2?

Does it have a door ajar light? If so is it functioning properly? If not try: spraying door latches liberally with WD-40, operate door a few times then spray with a good silicone spray. Although it sounds strange this has worked for me many times in solving the problem of dash lights coming onm with application of brake pedal

Why does my 94 Saturn new serpetine belt sqeal real bad?

Answer

it could be because the belt is a cheap after market brand that some times makes the belts a little smaller or bigger then OE parts (orginal equitment) put a little oil on it when it is running if the sound goes away then take the belt back if the sound doesn't go away then it isn't coming from the belt

you need a new belt tensioner i have a car like that

How do you replace the timing chain on 93 Saturn?

It is a difficult job. Only a person possessed with fixing his own car should proceed. It took me 3 days to do the job. Sorry the write up is not in a proper sequence.

Use secure jack stands, as you will be under the car for much of this.

You must remove the entire right front inside the "fender well" plastic covers set, to access all the engine mount bolts and the timing cover bolts. (you knew that!)

Your goal is to remove the timing cover and the sequence you elect to follow is a matter of preference, remove the parts as you encounter the obstacles. You'll need to remove the intake air box and remove the valve cover assembly, plug wires etc. and any connections to the valve cover.

Use small labeled boxes to hold the fasteners from each component.

Expose all the bolts that hold the timing chain cover on. THERE IS ONE (1) BOLT YOU CANNOT SEE, IT IS RECESSED JUST BELOW THE TOP OF THE COVER UNDER A LIP AND JUST OFF CENTER. (If you proceed to "wedge & TAP" the cover with this bolt in it WILL fracture the timing cover casting!) Yeah, it happened to me... Thank goodness for the TIG welder.

Oil pan may be dropped to aid in removing the cover. You must remove the engine to transmission brace and drop the exhaust pipe (all hangars) and remove the ring gear cover to get at the pan bolts. Pan will be fully removed and cleaned upon the re assembly and you will temporarily remove the lower engine torque arm mount to do it.

You remove the serpentine belt and the tensioner assembly. Drain the oil and remove and drain the coolant fill bottle & Window washer bottle.

You'll also need to remove the upper motor mount entirely, that is the replaceable mount and the fixed black cradle that is bolted to the car (frame).

Replace both cam chain tensioner guides, see the book for timing issues, it is too much to write about here but must be "COG ON" accurate. Replace the fixed guide first, after the new chain is on, then the moveable guide and tensioner on the left side. a pin (drill bit) holds the tensioner back as you install it, then you pull the pin to release it.

Re assembly requires much cleaning and a knowledge of the proper sealants. It is a messy job. Some use RTV silicone and some prefer urethane sealants, a real mess to work with but unlikely to leak if applied to a clean surface.

Sadly you'll need what I call a Bridge to hold the motor up, I made one with steel tube and a mig welder. I used a turnbuckle and a "J" hook to temporarily hold the engine up (basically to get the oil pan off for a clean out. You may know differently, my timing cover just would not come off without dropping the oil pan, and besides, the pan was full of old cam chain guide chunks. And it must off to be cleaned and sealed properly.

You must shift the power steering pump towards the fire wall to allow the removal of the top left bolt, a difficult task.

Both serpentine idler and tensioner must come off to get the cover out. The cover also houses the oil pump so be ready for it when you get the cover off.

You MUST Fill the oil pump cavity up with Vaseline prior to reassembly to prime the pump, I used a syringe. Get new "O" rings for the cam chain cover to engine block interface at the oil pump inlet & outlet.

Replace the crank front oil seal. and squirt some oil behind it to see if the drain hole is clear...

Check the book for torque specifications and use them.

Good Luck!

How do you remove a starter from a 92 Saturn?

Disconnect the battery, preferrably the negative post. Two bolts hold the starter to the engine block. They're 13MM or 1/2 inch (same thing basically) Pull the bolts, then disconnect the electrical. The starter is low on the back side of the engine, right in front of the driver.

Where is the thermostat on a 2000 Saturn?

The water pump on the 1996 Saturn is located below the AC compressor, this is the accessory mounted between the engine and the radiator in the engine bay. I have always been told to change the thermostat in conjunction with the water pump as you have to drain the cooling system for either task, so you will need to dismount the AC compressor, LET ME BE CLEAR, DO NOT REMOVE THE HOSES TO THE AC COMPRESSOR AS THIS WILL VENT FREON TO THE ATMOSPHERE AND MAY CAUSE RESPIRATORY ISSUES AND FREEZE BURNS!! All you need to do to dismount the AC compressor is remove the (6) bolts that hold it to its mounts and set it up on your cam cover, there is enough slack in the hoses for this. To replace the water pump, you will need to first drain the cooling system. From the bottom of the car you will see a hole in the shroud on the passenger side front, the radiator drain petcock is located here. You only need to turn it a half turn and pull slightly, take off the overflow bottle cap to allow air into the system and speed up the drain. The water pump is attached by (6) 10mm bolts, (2) of which require you to remove the pulley to access, so using a long screw driver and a buddy, wedge the screw driver between any two bolts and loosen but do not remove the third bolt. Rotate the water pump and repeat this process on the other two bolts holding the pulley on the pump. The same procedure is used to reinstall the pulley, just flip the switch on the ratchet so you are tightening. Remove the (6) bolts for the water pump, remove the water pump and clean off the old gasket from the engine with and wire brush or putty knife being careful not to gouge the gasket sealing surface on the engine. Take the new water pump out of the box and install the new gasket that should come with it, I recommend using a non-hardening silicone, available at the parts counter, applied sparingly to keep the gasket in place while you are installing the new pump. Align the pump to the housing, they only go on one way, so make sure all the bolts line are started before you tighten them, reinstall the pulley and the water pump is done. To replace the thermostat, remove the lower radiator hose from the engine. The housing it was attached to is the thermostat housing, remove the (2) 10mm bolts that hold it on and discard along with the associated O-ring. Clean up the O-ring sealing surface with a wire brush, pull the new unit out of the box, they normally come pre-installed into a new housing with the O-ring loose in the box. Use a little non-hardening silicone to lubricate the O-ring and to help keep it in place, install the new thermostat housing and attach the lower radiator hose. Reinstall the AC compressor, serpentine belt, close the radiator drain, reinstall the wheel well splash panels and tire and you are almost there. Since you have a 1996 Saturn, you should use the normal green anti-freeze mixed 50/50. I use a product that works with the older green stuff and the new orange/red extended life with no detrimental effects, it is green in color as well, but you are free to use whatever silicate free type of coolant you like. The cooling system will take about a gallon and a half of mix, so one gallon of anti-freeeze will be enough. Fill the overflow bottle until the level stabilizes, I recommend squeezing and releasing the upper radiator hose a few times to help fill the system, when this stops pulling the overflow bottle level down you are ready to start the car. Pay close attention to the overflow bottle level for the first 10-15 minutes or until the thermostat opens as the level will go DOWN RAPIDLY when this happens and you do not want to overheat the engine. When the level stabilizes, install the overflow bottle cap and you are done.
