Could be a few things. First check your transmission fluid if it is low, if so fill it to the fill line. Second check the transmission oils to see if it is dirty; if so have it completely drained and replace transmission filter, and tranmission oil. Approximatly takes 4.2 quarts to refill completely. If problem still persists then most likely the transmissions torque converter is going bad, or there could be a leak in the transmission cooling line, either in the pressure line or the return line. Sometimes the leak may not be detected but can cause a vapor leak and cause the tranny to switch gears hard. Lastly check the vacuum lines to the tranny or if it calls vacuum lines for the peticullar year.

Its the clearest one with the number 25 on it located in the top right corner with the other fuses.

The 1993 Saturn 1.9 is not an interferance engine, and has a chain, not a belt.

I just did this. First off make sure you have a valid replacement part. I had to go back and forth several times to get the right part. Make sure the one you get WILL fit a Saturn and isn't just one for "most GM vehicles". To remove the lighter you will need to remove the panel on the driver's side, just below the radio bezel, it just pulls off. Once you have the panel off you will need to unclip the lead to the back of the lighter and unclip the light on the bottom. Then unscrew the back section of the lighter and then you should be able to easily remove it

I can't speak for the SL2, but for my 96 SC1 there are two panels, one is on the passenger side to the right and below the radio, you would probably hit it with your left shin if you were sitting in the passenger seat.

The second one is under the hood on the divers side towards the front of the engine compartment. In both cases the inside of the panel covers shows the layout of the fuses. The one under the hood is pretty crytpic but I'm guessing that the one labeled RR DFG is probably the Rear Window Defroster. -Eric

It means there is a particular service that is now due, based on the mileage on the vehicle. Look in your owner's manual to see what service is due. Don't have an owner's manual, then get one. Dealer, Salvage Yard, Ebay, and many online sources are available.

Perhaps you should bleed the by bleeding the brake lines on each tire starting in the rear first. On must vechicles you need to pump the brake about 40 times before the pressure will pump up you will here a noise. Look in the owners manuel it should tell you as well.

Check ball joints & tie rod ends. The original ones that came with the car are not serviceable (greaseable) and sometimes they start to seize and give a screeching noise on turns. Also check the power steering fluid level to make sure its o/k but don't overfill it. You might want to have a look at the belt running the power steering, it may be loose or worn causing noises.

It appears that your thermostat is stuck in the open position. Replace it and all should be fine. It would be a good time to flush and refill the cooling system if you haven't done so recently.

That would depend on what is wrong with the transmission. Repairing an A/T or a Manual transmission is a repair that requires skill, knowledge, and training, in other words a professional. Take it to a trusted independent or Saturn dealer. Avoid chain transmissions shops. As you don't state the problem, about all you can do yourself is change the fluid and filter if you have the skill to accomplish this. If you are experiencing rough shifting or hesitation, change the fluid and filter or have it done.

The trans fluid is the red dipstick in the car. The yellow one is oil, the red is trani fluid. You pour in trani fluid in that same spot, but use a funnel. The car has to be on, in park and on a flat, level ground to get an accurat reading.

1 gallon of antifreeze and 1 gallon of distilled water mixed 50/50 is sufficient to fill the system after it is drained and flushed. Or you can buy 2 gallons of premixed coolant. Be sure and replace the thermostat and bleed all air from the system. Make sure the heater control is set to HOT.
