2.7L and 3.5L # Disconnect the negative battery cable. # Remove the intake manifold. # Prior to removing the ignition coils, spray compressed air around the coil area and spark plug to remove contaminates from around spark plug tube. Remove the ignitions coil. # Remove the spark plug using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert. # Inspect the spark plug condition.
5.7L Eight of the 16 spark plugs are located under an ignition coil; the other 8 are not. If spark plug being removed is under coil, coil must be removed to gain access to spark plug. Before removing or disconnecting any spark plug cables, note their original position. Remove cables one-at-a-time. To prevent ignition crossfire, spark plug cables MUST be placed in cable tray (routing loom) into their original position. Before installing spark plug cables to either the spark plugs or coils, apply dielectric grease to inside of boots. # Remove necessary air filter tubing at throttle body. # Prior to removing ignition coil (if coil removal is necessary), spray compressed air around coil base at cylinder head cover. # Prior to removing spark plug, spray compressed air into cylinder head opening. This will help prevent foreign material from entering combustion chamber. # Remove spark plug from cylinder head using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert. # Inspect spark plug condition. Reverse procedure to install.

If you are changing it because your vehicle won't start when it is cold or humid, don't bother replacing it. Instead, you need to disable the PASSLOCK system. To find out how to do that search for "cut the white wire Saturn ion" on youtube. Good luck.

What you describe sounds like a problem with the electronic part of trans such as solnoid in trans or wiring in, or outside the trans. a small amount of slipage will also put that light on in some vehicles.

Dexcool. Same as other GM cars. DO NOT USE the normal green stuff (otherwise known as Ethalene Glycol) as the two fluids are not interchangeable and WILL damage your engine if the two are mixed.

It doesn't matter. Your key won't work in the new one. They have to do something at the shop to make it work.
Actually you can remove it without the shop needing to do anything. My wife had an issue with ers, the dealer wanted to charge 200$ to fix it. I took it out, took it apart, cleaned it and reinstalled it and now it works fine. Its all over the Internet how to do it.
actually your key will work in the new one... you require a 15 torx angled to remove the old ignition switch and the replace it in the same order in which removed... after that put the key in the ignition and turn as if you were going to start it and then the pass-lock sensor will come on the dash at this time its programming the pass-lock system for your key and after ten minutes go by then the pass-lock symbol will turn off and then turn the ignition as if you start again and then it will do the same thing 10 mins and then off and turn the ignition and wait another 10 minutes turn the key and it should start. and everything will work again....
however the Saturn dealer if they do it all they have to do is program it threw your computer thus making it less time for them but it can be done and the only place you can buy the ignition switch is at the dealer not avail anywhere else...
and this is a known defect with the car although Saturn will never admit it or will they replace it at no cost...

Depends on which engine it has.
2.2L: 148 HP
2.4L: 175 HP
2.0L supercharged: 205 HP
The 2.2L is the standard engine in the Ion. The 2.4L was optional only on Saturn Ion 3's from 2006-2007. The 2.0L supercharged is exclusive to the performance oriented Saturn Ion Redline

you'll need some penetrate (i prefer zep45) an open end wrench. disconnect the wires and try to break the sensor free if it wont budge you can use a torch to heat up the surrounding area and then try again.

If it's the same as the '05, then you should be able to drain the oil from the oil pan on the bottom of the vehicle. The filter is in a casing mounted on the engine. It should still be on the left side, and it's right on top. Five bolts maybe?

You can pick one up at your local GM dealer. Just go to the parts desk and tell them what you are looking for.

you don't, replace the sensor as it's bad.

There is no pump to replace. Saturn Ions do not use conventional hydraulic power steering. They use a electric power steering system that uses a small electric motor to provide steering assistance. They are known for problems. If you are having problems with yours, bring it to any GM dealer and they should fix it. GM extended the warranty on the power steering of all Saturn Ions, Chevy Cobalts, Chevy HHRs and Pontiac G5s to 10 years or 100,000 miles.
