I think that school uniforms help schools and students because if there are no school uniforms, kids that are not that wealthy would find it hard keeping up with the new fashion trends which could lead to bullying. It also helps the schools because they have less problems to deal with like bullying. It also makes the school look more presentable.
Its sorta 50/50 though, many people would hate them and not many people actually care about fashion and plus not many people would bully someone for that reason.

I agree with 'Wiki User'. and would add:-

Yes, children in China wear uniforms for school.
Each student is given a few variations for different seasons/weather.
For warmer weather the same short sleeved shirts are usually worn by girls and boys. The boys will wear shorts while the girls are in skirts that are usually around knee length.
For winter or colder days, they wear long pants, long sleeved shirts. Some schools have longer ankle length skirts for girls. Also, some schools will also include a jacket or sweater.
The colors depend on the schools but are usually a bright color for summer and a more subdued shade of the same color for winter.
All shirts/jackets/sweaters will have the school name or emblem on them. These uniforms would be purchased at the schools they attend. However, they will also have to supply their own black shoes and white socks.
What were Victorian school uniforms like?
It very much depended on the school. The most typical and usual style of school uniforms in the Victorian-era would be a plaid/solid colored dress with a white pinafore over it and some other styles notable as school uniforms in the Victorian-era were sailor style (sailor style was also common as daily wear). School uniforms in Asia adapted the sailor style from the Victorians. Do not listen to whoever said "black dress with a white pinafore over it". The white pinafore part is true, but there would not be a black dress and specifically that combination would be servant-wear. The misconception that all children were servants in the Victorian era is untrue and is just a stereotype. Films that present Victorian school uniforms are:
A Little Princess (all adaptions)
Samantha: An American Girl Holiday
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Hope this helped! :)
