When should you call an ambulance for someone who has had a seizure?
There are a lot of symptomatic indicators, but its rare to see all of them show up. Alcohol is a Central Nervous System (CNS) depressant. So we see it inhibiting the gag reflex, slowing breathing, and generally messing with the CNS. Given enough alcohol, you will die. But how much is that?
The symptoms to watch out for include:
It is best to have someone checked out without delay by a doctor, less delays gives someone a better chance to survive.
What are the symptoms of myoclonic seizures?
Generalized clonic seizures are rare and seen typically in children with elevated fever. These seizures are characterized by a rapid loss of consciousness, decreased muscle tone, and generalized spasm that is followed by jerky movements.
Can a dog have a seizure from getting hit?
Dogs can have seizures from an excess of external stimuli (ie, sound & light), and this includes trauma or physical shock to the body. So yes, getting hit can cause a dog to have a seizure, especially if they have been diagnosed with epilepsy.
Does snorting Xanax - alprazolam - cause seizures?
Generally not.
It is addictive and withdrawal from it can lead to seizures but the drug itself usually does not.
Can you give a dog an aspirin for seizures?
Why would aspirin prevent seizures? Get your dog to the vet... Actually, aspirin does have some anti-seizure effect. See, e.g., Aspirin modulates the anticonvulsant effect of diazepam and sodium valproate in pentylenetetrazole and maximal electroshock induced seizures in mice. Srivastava AK, Gupta YK. Neuropharmacology Laboratory, Department of Pharmacology, All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, New Delhi-110 029. Evaluation of antiepileptic activity of aspirin in combination with newer antiepileptic lamotrigine in mice. Tandon M, Anuradha K, Pandhi P. Department of Pharmacology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh-160012, India. What isn't in these two articles is information of a practical nature for canine epilepsy. Run it by your vet, but I would not be surprised if it might be of some benefit.
It certainly sounds like a seizure. He should consult with a doctor. I have seen a study that infers that modern cannabis is much stronger than it was years ago and could possibly cause seizures. I also saw a conversation thread where someone said their spouse had smoked pot for 30+ years, but started having seizures. Because of the seizures, he stopped smoking which seemed to stop the seizures.
Your friend still should go to a doctor to make sure nothing else is going on.
When an animasuch as dog has a seizure it will shake while laying on the floor. Do not touch te dog because it is frightened and unaware of its surroundings so you may get bit. All you can do it talk to the dog and help it culm down. After the seizure he or she may be very tired and go to sleep. They often do not beathe during the seizure and if they are panting that is why and it is normal. You need t stay culm while anyone a peson or an animal has a seizure and allow them to know that they are safe.
Can you have seizures if your stressed?
Anxiety more commonly gives rise to seizure-like activity called pseudoseizures (without the incontinence or post-ictal period, for instance). This can occur in those individuals already vulnerable to true seizures.
What are seizures caused from?
They are caused by electrons misfiring in your brain, which is triggered by something. However, there are many triggers, some of them are unknown. Some common ones are flashing lights, sleep deprivation, stress - the most common one, however, is skipping your medications. For more information, talk to your neurologist or check out a website called www.epilepsyfoundation.org
What are simple partial seizures?
Simple partial seizures do not spread from the focal area where they arise. Symptoms are determined by the part of the brain affected. The patient usually remains conscious during the seizure and can later describe it in detail.
How does lamictal work for seizure control?
it is not exactly clear how it works, but it treats epilepsy (seizures). However, studies suggest that the drug may work by affecting sodium channels in the brain, thus, preventing the unnatural activity from spreading to other areas. This action helps control seizures.
Exactly how Lamictal works to treat bipolar disorder is also unclear. Clinical studies have shown that people taking the drug went longer without having an episode of mania or depression, compared to those not taking it.
How do you control Epilepsy seizures?
Live as normal a life as possible. For most people that have epilepsy, it does not affect most aspects of their lives. They may be restricted in some ways, but most things they can do perfectly normally. It is only if they get very serious seizures and get them very regularly, that it has any major impact on their lives. If you have epilepsy, then talk to your doctor about it and they will tell you where your limits are. Everyone is different.

Epilepsy (sometimes referred to as a seizure disorder) is a common chronic neurological condition that is characterized by recurrent unprovoked epileptic seizures. These seizures are transient signs and/or symptoms due to abnormal excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. It affects approximately 50 million people worldwide. Epilepsy is usually controlled, but not cured, with medication, although surgery may be considered in difficult cases. Not all Epilepsy syndromes are lifelong, for example some are confined to particular stages of childhood.
How can you tell that you had a seizure?
well, i have had two complex partial seizures in my whole life. when you have a partial seizure, you see an aura, or light that blocks your vision, and you sometimes become unconcious. i have not had a seizure for a very long time.
if you have a grand mall seizure, you smell an intense smell or see something. your vision can become blurry. then, you usually become unconcious and start to become stiff or jerk your body.
many people have seizures every day. and many people don't. seizures are symptoms of epilepsy.
Yes. Brain damage in the occipital cortex region can cause total blindness (no light perception), but retina detachment or optic nerve avulsion from head trauma can cause partial blindness, or blindness in only one eye.
What happens after a seizure like days after?
Once a seizure is finished, a person will soon start to get back to normal. Within hours or even minutes, they will be fine. If they had a very bad seizure, they may feel unwell for some time, maybe still feeling a little unwell the day after, like still having a bit of a headache. They may not have another seizure for a very long time. So there may be nothing particular that will happen days after a seizure. Everything will be back to normal long before that.
Why do you not remember what happened in a seizure?
Someone will know they have had a seizure because they will often feel it coming, and they will feel themselves coming out of it. There will also be a time gap between those two and they may not feel well. Someone who has had lots of seizures will be familiar with one coming on and how they feel after it. People don't remember what happens during a seizure because they are not fully conscious. It is like as if they are day dreaming or asleep and then wake up. In the same way people don't know what happens when they are asleep, someone who has had a seizure won't know what will have happened during the actual seizure. They may remember dreaming sometimes, like we do when we sleep, but not always. Some very mild seizures will not result in a loss of consciousness and may last seconds, so the person will know something has happened, but bigger ones will result in a loss of consciousness and they won't remember being in the seizure because of that.
How can you tell if one is faking a seizure?
Seizures can cause involuntary changes in body movement or function, sensation, awareness, or behavior. A seizure can last from a few seconds to status epilepticus, a continuous seizure that will not stop without intervention. Seizure is often associated with a sudden and involuntary contraction of a group of muscles. However, a seizure can also be as subtle as marching numbness of a part of the body, a brief loss of memory, sparkling or flashes, sensing an unpleasant odor, a strange epigastric sensation or a sensation of fear. Therefore seizures are typically classified as motor, sensory, autonomic, emotional or cognitive. In some cases, the full onset of a seizure event is preceded by some of the sensations described above. These sensations can serve as a warning to the sufferer that a full tonic-clonic seizure is about to occur. These "warning sensations" are cumulatively called an aura. Symptoms experienced by a person during a seizure depend on where in the brain the disturbance in electrical activity occurs. Recent studies show that seizures happen in sleep more often than was thought. A person having a tonic-clonic seizure may cry out, lose consciousness and fall to the ground, and convulse, often violently. A person having a complex partial seizure may appear confused or dazed and will not be able to respond to questions or direction. Some people have seizures that are not noticeable to others. Sometimes, the only clue that a person is having an absence seizure is rapid blinking or a few seconds of staring into space. It is commonly thought among healthcare providers that many seizures, especially in children, are preceded by tachycardia that frequently persists throughout the seizure. This early increase in heart rate may supplement an aura as a physiological warning sign of an imminent seizure. [1]

actually yes. its nothing to be worried about. they shouldn't last long. its just like when your body starts to twitch after smoking sometimes, but it is a little more intense. i would sit or lay down though, just in case you fall or something.
Edit: I've seen in happen several times. At parties, friend's living rooms, etc. At worst, I've seen peoples eyes roll to the back of their heads, followed by violent shaking. It shouldn't be a big worry, just make sure your buddy is somewhere where he's not going to hurt himself too badly.
