I got this sewing machine from my sweetheart for my birthday either in 1973, 74, or 75. It was a most wonderful gift. It was my first sewing machine. I still have it. It was a terrific mechanical sewing machine.

I find that you can pick crud out of the male side of velcro with a pin- sort of rake through it and pull out the fuzz as it comes up off the surface. Female velcro (the softer side) can't really be cleaned and doesn't tend to pick up stuff. If you find that the female side no longer sticks to good clean male velcro, the female probably needs to be replaced.

It depends on how thick the pillow is, but 2/3 yard should be plenty. For an average thickness pillow the rule of thumb is to add 2-3 inches to each side, and then use a 1/2 inch seam allowance. So, sew two 20x20 or 21x21 squares together. Keep in mind that when in doubt, it is easiest to make the pillow cover big and then make it smaller by taking in the sides if needed.

The value of this sewing machine is zero ($0.00). There is nothing wrong with that particular make or model. Ninety-nine percent of these older, electro-mechanical sewing machines aren't worth anything because the cost of having it serviced approaches or exceeds the price of a NEW machine from a discount store. A new $89 machine will do everything the old one does and more. An old machine that has been stored away for years always requires service, even though it appears to sew ok for a quick test. All the grease and oil which lubricated the machine has either hardened or turned to varnish. This gunk has to be cleaned out and the machine lubricated else the machine will jam and break threads on the first project. Although older machines might be constructed from mostly metal, this alone doesn't make them "better" than a new machine having a lot of plastic parts. Mass produced, consumer goods from yesteryear have all same short comings of modern mass produced, consumer goods. They cut corners to save cost. You don't find out what these corners are until you have a problem. You are unlikely to break a new machine but if you do then you can take it back. Breaking an old machine will lead you down a path of frustration. You'll discover that the "all metal" machine has little plastic gears and a rubber timing belt, both of which have become fragile with age. This is why there is little to no market for old sewing machines. When you own an old sewing machine that you must get rid of, feel satisfied if you find it a good home; otherwise it will end up in a landfill. Of course, you can always stick it to someone by asking a high price for the machine than laying in wait for someone who doesn't know how to value such items. This happens all the time in antique stores.

Stitch length is going to depend greatly on the fabric. You are going to use a longer stitch length on denim than you are on chiffon. That is why it is important to test and adjust your stitch length on a scrap of fabric before you begin sewing your project.

We don't know exactly when because the technique (making fabric by connecting loops of yarn) dates back to BC years--though it might not have become "real" knitting until a later date. In fact, "Nalebinding" was similar but used only one needle, so knitting needles might have predated knitting ;)

Sears provides sewing machine repair with their website requiring some basic questions to be answered to understand the problem. They provide service at their service centers as well as in-home repair. Most places that sell sewing machines also do repairs and servicing. Some of the more popular brands of commercial sewing machines include Brother, Kenmore, Consew, Juki, Mauser and Tacsew. Commercial machines differ from others becuase they can handle different types of materials.

The Kenmore 90 3356472 was made in the early 2000s. The 3356472 is a Kenmore top load washer and was one of Kenmore's most popular washers when it first came out.

You will need pins, needles, scissors, tape measure, a sewing machine, chalk etc.

I'm assuming you're talking about winding a bobbin on a sewing machine? If so, there is a post similar to the one for thread (near it) that you put the empty bobbin on. Then you put your spool of thread where it goes on the machine. You wind your thread from the spool of thread to the bobbin (there's usually a little chart on your machine, but if not, the thread goes through a hook or two and then you wind it about 4 times around the bobbin (clockwise). In newer machines you then push the bobbin toward a holder type thing that is near it. This disengages the needle from going up and down and lets the machine wind the thread as you push the pedal.

On older machines, you have to turn the handle of the machine toward you and it disengages the needle, allowing the bobbin to be filled when you press the pedal.
