Which barrel do you fire first in a double barrel shotgun?
Usually you fire the right barrel first. It's choke is normally a little open giving a wider spread of shot. You fire the second barrel which is normally a tighter choke at a target farther away. This tighter spread will be concentrated but spread because of the long range assuring more pellets hitting the target. Firing the right barrel at a greater range might have the target escape by having the shot pass by without hitting it because the pellets are spread too far apart.

How do you replace hammer braces on a model 390 Beretta semiautomatic shotgun?
You will need to remove the trigger assembly. Once you remove this there is a hollow pin that goes through the hammer as well as the shell feed. REmove this carefully as there is a spring located on the left side that works for the shell feed. Once this is out, the trigger will pull straight out. The hammer braces fit on little pins on both sides of the hammer. pull out the old ones replace both with new ones and carefully put the pin back in. This is a 5 minute job, but this is also a good time to fully clean the trigger assembly. I usually spray it down with brake cleaner, blow it dry and then spray on CLP. This becomes a 15-20 minute job if you do a good job
What is the value of a HSB co 16 gauge double barrel?
Not too much. About $250 would be top dollar. It was a good, inexpensive shotgun, not one of those things collectors pay big bucks for. It's also over 50 years old, so unless you know its maintenance history, it would require an inspection by a qualified gunsmith before firing. A decorator might be interested in it as a mantle decoration.

Is this a breech loader or muzzleloader? W. Greener muzzleloaders of the mid 1850s were engraved with the phrase "Indestructable by Gun Powder" They were elegant and light weight. A double in good condition should bring several thousand dollars. Out of my collection of several dozen antique guns, the W. Greener from 1856 is my favorite to shoot and hunt with. Of my collwction of shotguns that include Parkers, LC Smiths, etc., the old greener is the best ballanced/shouldering of the lot. Email me photos of your Greener. james_moran@uml.edu

What is a marble game getter gun?
A controlled firearm that is an over-under .22/.410. They were made by the Marble Arms Company and are subject to the National Firearms Act of 1934 in being short barreled shotguns and rifles- the NFA regulates: A. machine Guns capable of full-automatic fire. B. Shotguns with abbreviated barrels popularily called (sawed-off), C. Pistols equipped with detachable or permanentaly fitted shoulder stocks., there is an established minimum barrel length of 18 Inches for a shotgun and 16 For a Rifle with conventional shoulder stocks. The Game getter is subject to the B and C portions of the act. The Game getter is not an automatic or even semi-auto arm, but does violate the concealability and short barrel/shoulder stocking portions of the act. Note that depending on the barrel length, the statis of the item is in question. If it has a barrel length shorter than 18", and is not currently registered properly with the ATF, it is in violation of the law to posess or sell the item. It cannot be "registered" now as the amnesty period has expired.
One solution is, if it is a short barrel model, separate the barrel component, from the frame component by removing the pivot screw, and disassemble into 2 separate halves. Do not keep or have the same person in posession or control of the separate halves. The barrels can be replaced with the longer 18" version at reasonable cost and the question of legality is solved. It can then be owned, sold, or used within the constraints of the law without being subject to the NFA restrictions. Im not saying its OK to posess the unregistered short barrel models. Im saying if they 2 halves of a short barrel model are not together, under the control of the same individual, the ATF ruling does not apply. Be very careful if you are inadvertantly or unintentionally in control of one of these that are in violation.
The individual parts, including short barrels, are quite legally sellable on the market as repair or replacements and only the "receiver" is a controlled part, and all sub-components can be sold or purchased without restriction.
If you are in need of the longer 18" barrels, or are interested in sellig parts, contact me Roger Watson at brddwatson@msn.com
