What is wrong with ice skating?
There are a few reasons that people do not enjoy figure skating. One reason why people dont like ice skating is because sometimes parents get too pushy and turn their children away from the sport. I believe ice skating should be competitive, but fun at the same time. A pushy parent would make ice skating not fun, just competitive. Another reason why people dont like ice skating is an obvious reason. You may not be good at the sport. Ice skating involves lots of hard work, and if you aren't willing to give it your all, then you won't be good. The next reason people don't like figure skating is because of their coach. Sometimes, coaches can be tough. Although you may not like a tough coach, they are the best ones. Finally, some people just don't like the sport. They just don't enjoy it. I hope this helped!!!!
Why do ice skates have to be thin?
The thinner skates cause the body weight of the skater to be distributed over a very small surface area. This does two things...first, it reduces friction which makes you slide longer/faster/more effortlessly. Second, it creates a high amount of pressure between blade and ice. This causes a thin line of the ice under the blade to liquefy, further reducing friction. (The freezing point of water is roughly 32 degrees at standard atmospheric pressure...the higher the pressure, the colder the freezing point. This is why snow packs into a snowball when you squeeze it.
Do the fun slide carpet skates work?
YES carpets skates work! They are a fun way to release some energy when its s sucky day out. The anti-friction (aka slippery) plastic makes it ideal to slide on carpeted areas. There are little grips at the toes so you can get a running start and go fast! Go buy a pair or two and have fun with your friends at home, the office or school!!!
There's no number. Ususally in Short track there's 4 on the ice at a time, racing that is. The most I've ever seen is 6, and that was in a 3000m race. But in long track yo can have more, dependson the number of people racing, and the number of people in the meet.

If you are referring to inline hockey skates, then yes you can use then for general street skating. I would highly suggest that you purchase an extra set of wheels that are harder for street use. Most inline hockey skates have indoor wheels and they will wear down fast skating on a hard surface. You will need wheels with a hardness (durometer) of 80A or higher.
It is not that difficult to change out the wheels, just need a skate tool.

Is the Ripstik better than a skateboard?
To me, yes the ripstik is soooo much more fun. I love how it rides. It is so much more smooth than a skateboard. I've done both to be honest. i used to skateboard a lot and thought it wuz great until i learned how to ripstik. Then i knew i had to get one. so i got my my first ripstik and i got it in the sweet color blue. i ride it like everyday now and all of my friends have a ripstik too. Me and my friend have made up soo many beast tricks on our ripstiks. not to make fun of the skateboard or anything, its just my opinion.
