In figure skating how do you do a double flip?
In order to even land a double loop in figure skating, it is crucial for you to know how to do a single. It is recommended for you to have sharp skates, ankle support, and flexible/comfortable clothing (no jeans).
When you do a single loop you have to pull your arms in a cross lightly to get the rotation . With the double though you will need to work out and have really strong leg muscles. The idea of the jump is to master a rotation without using your toe pick by jumping off one leg and doing a rotation and landing on it again.
In order to do a double loop, you will have to pull in your arms really tightly to get more spin. Second, you need to be able to push yourself off your leg hard and fast. This is probably the most important part. You need to get higher up in the air to be able to fit in two rotations.
When you first try doing a double loop, you should always have someone watching, just in case you get injured. It's OK to wear a helmet for the first couple of times if you feel really uncomfortable without it, or just not confident.

Is ice skating similar to roller skating?
No, they're not the same. If you're roller skating or roller blading, you have a boot with buckles on it, and you have wheels on the bottom of the boot. You use them on land. If you're ice skating, you have a half-shoe, half-boot that's either white or tan colored (for the girls) and usually black (for the boys). There aren't any buckles on ice skates, there are shoelaces. On the bottom, there are blades, not wheels. You use these kind of skates on ice, not on land.
When were roller skates invented?
Actually, roller skates were invented in 1760 by Joseph Merlin, of Huy, Belgium.
Yes, they can. After Ice Skating, if the blade is not cleaned with tissues/ a towel etc. The blades can go rusty, which is very dangerous and so they must then be replaced if they do go rusty. If you your skates do get rusty, you can have them sharpened which will remove the layer of rust, however I suggest NOT to leave your skates to rust as the rust may progress to areas of the blade that aren't normally sharpened.
How much does a figure skating coach earn?
It depends on where you live how old you are. Who ever you are skating for decides how much you get paid. If you are going pro then you would more than likely get paid a lot. But you also lose a lot of money too. you pay at least $6,000 a year to be a professional skater.
When competing in things like the National, World, or Grand Prix events, they aren't paid. They are doing it for enjoyment. While many of them are sponsored, they are not paid. Once skaters quit the competing and join the pro, like Stars on ice, they get paid, but I don't know how much.

What is wrong with ice skating?
There are a few reasons that people do not enjoy figure skating. One reason why people dont like ice skating is because sometimes parents get too pushy and turn their children away from the sport. I believe ice skating should be competitive, but fun at the same time. A pushy parent would make ice skating not fun, just competitive. Another reason why people dont like ice skating is an obvious reason. You may not be good at the sport. Ice skating involves lots of hard work, and if you aren't willing to give it your all, then you won't be good. The next reason people don't like figure skating is because of their coach. Sometimes, coaches can be tough. Although you may not like a tough coach, they are the best ones. Finally, some people just don't like the sport. They just don't enjoy it. I hope this helped!!!!
Why do ice skates have to be thin?
The thinner skates cause the body weight of the skater to be distributed over a very small surface area. This does two things...first, it reduces friction which makes you slide longer/faster/more effortlessly. Second, it creates a high amount of pressure between blade and ice. This causes a thin line of the ice under the blade to liquefy, further reducing friction. (The freezing point of water is roughly 32 degrees at standard atmospheric pressure...the higher the pressure, the colder the freezing point. This is why snow packs into a snowball when you squeeze it.
Do the fun slide carpet skates work?
YES carpets skates work! They are a fun way to release some energy when its s sucky day out. The anti-friction (aka slippery) plastic makes it ideal to slide on carpeted areas.
