Slow Cookers

I don't know who manufactures the Technique.....but I have one and really like it. There was no manual with it and I would like to have one. I called a place that was on the shipping label, and was told to go to QVC...which I haven't done yet. I tried googling and couldn't fine anything about a manual.

If you put it on low and leave it they should be done by the time its dinner.

Funny you should ask. I am looking for a replacement lid for the same model. If I can't find a lid, my ceramic crock would be available for sale.

It depends on what your cooking. If your cooking soup or stew you probably should cook it in a crock pot. But if your cooking brownies or a cake you should cook it in the oven for best results. If your cooking mac and cheese you should cook it in a oven.

Yes. To quote my my owners guide. The slow cooker will not recover heat losses quickly when cooking on low setting. Significant amounts of heat escape whenever the lid is removed; there for cooking time must be extended. Avoid frequent removal of the cover for checking cooking progress or stirring. Never remove cover during the first 2 hours when baking breads of cakes. it is not necessary to stir while cooking on LOW heat. While using HIGH heat for short periods, occasional stirring improves the distribution of flavors.

Jersey Bean Crock is a delicious, wholesome, traditional, bean-based dish made in crock pot. The crock pot is an earthen ware pot with a lid in which the ingredients would cook slowly. Generally, everyone would agree that it contains beans!! Perhaps a mixture of haricot, butter, brown and kidney beans that all need soaking overnight. Often a pig's trotter is used to thicken the liquid around the beans, but some use belly pork, and some even add in (very contentious this one) shin of beef to make it more meaty. Usually there is an onion in there but some add carrots as well. Usually there are some herbs - perhaps bay, thyme, parsley.

One thing that everyone will agree on is that it is invariably delicious, warming and very filling. In Jersey it would be served with some crusty bread - perhaps Jersey cabbage loaf.

Although the slow cooker emits heat when operating, the heat generated is nominal in comparison to the mass of the air inside the house. So, no, the slow cooker, by itself, will not cause the AC to run more than it would normally.

Yes. :-) Low heat, 4 hours, and add an extra 1/4 to 1/3 cup water for every cup of rice. So if you normally do 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water, use 2 1/4 cups of water or 2 1/3. If you do 2 cups of rice and 4 cups of water, use 4 1/2 to 4 2/3 cups water.

In searching for a part for an older Rival slicer, I found that www.abtecparts.com listed many of the parts. Some, including the one I was seeking, were marked "no longer available" but did show the part picture. Other parts were available and could be ordered.
