S&W did not make this.

Iver Johnson used an owl head trademark for many years. I am not aware of any serial number data available for the company, but if you can identify the model, we may be able to narrow the manufacture date within a decade or two.

In Smith and Wesson code, the 6 means the gun is primarily made of rust resistant stainless steel. The 37 designates the lightweight version of the model 36 .38 caliber revolver, and lightweight guns have aluminum frames. The -2 designation means that this revolver is the second version of this model. So 637-2 means a stainless barrel and cylinder on an aluminum frame based on a lightweight model 36 revolver in the second version (or first design revision) of this model which is designated model 637. The model 36 and model 37 Smith and Wesson revolver are 5 shot revolvers with a 2, 3, or (recently) a 5 inch target barrel. The 2 inch barrel is the most common version. The model 637 Smith and Wesson 5 shot .38 caliber revolver is only available in a 2 inch barrel.

Ladysmith 22.cal revolvers in .22 long with 7 shot cylinder were made in the 1890, into the early 20th century. common barrel length was about 3.5 in. 6in barrels are rare and could be more valuable.Were discontinued because of frequent repairs. Other S&W pistols have also carried this name in various calibers...

well, it depends... the 657 sells new around 800 i beleive.. most gun dealers like to give you about 50-60% of the new value. even in 90% condition. but if you find the right person you can probably bring around 500.00 i paid 500 for mine along with 900 handloads,a scope and mount, and hoslter..

Made in 1978. You can get a letter from S&W on it for 30 USD.

The main difference is that the TSW slide and frame were made as a matched set and have the same assembly number on each.
