yes
Well the first thing you must be aware of are the dangers of breath hold diving (free diving).
Basically the more efficiently you use your oxygen (O2), the longer it will last. The fitter you are, the more efficiently your body will use its O2 supply. The more relaxed you are and the less energy you use, the slower your heart will beat, so again, less O2 used. Yoga is good for this and teaches you breathing excercises.
There's also a psychological aspect - can you resist the urge to gasp for air when your body tells you to? This is caused by hightened levels of Carbon Dioxode (CO2) in your body. Although you can ignore this urge, it is a natural defence to stop you asphyxiating.
You may hear talk of hyperventilating before a free dive - but do this too much, and you will lower your CO2 levels so much that when you need O2, your body won't have enough CO2 to tell you! This can lead to death!
I would suggest if you want to take this seriously, you take an intro into free diving with a registered free diving school.
Above all, dive safe and don't dive alone!

Why don't they make longer snorkels so that people could dive deeper without scuba gear?
Imagine a tall hollow tube, 1 inch square in cross section, and closed at the bottom. Fill the tube to a depth of 1 foot with water. The weight of a column of water 1 foot deep, bearing down on 1 square inch is approximately 1/2 a pound. Add another foot of water in the hollow tube, and the weight at the bottom is doubled - about 1 pound. Keep increasing the depth of water in the column, and the weight bearing down on the 1 square inch bottom increases at the rate of 1/2 pound per foot of depth.
Pressure is defined as Force divided by Area. A 10 foot column of water produces a pressure of roughly 5 pounds per square inch at its bottom. Also, pressure is omnidirectional. That is, pressure at any given depth pushes equally in all directions.
Now suppose you stand at the bottom of a swimming pool and try to breathe through a long snorkel. Let's suppose your breathing diaphragm (the sheet of muscle at the bottom of your chest cavity) is 4 feet below the surface of the pool. The water pressure at the level of your diaphragm 4 feet underwater is 2 pounds per square inch. Through the snorkel, your lungs are connected to the air above the water, and the weight of water bearing down on you by gravity is trying to squeeze the air out of your lungs.
How much total force is this? Suppose your diaphragm measures about 4 inches by 10 inches, so it has an area of 40 square inches. Then 2 pounds per square inch of water pressure applied to 40 square inches of diaphragm equals 80 pounds of force. Drawing breath against 80 pounds of force is extremely difficult! Doing it for more than a few short breaths is definitely impossible.
When is the best time of the year to go snorkeling in Key West Florida?
avoid shiny objects on you like dive watches as they attract Barracuda
Stay warm in winterIn winter the water is nice and warm but still cool enough that snorkeling for any length of time will get you shivering. Especially on the key's reef trips which tend to be away from shore. In winter I would recommend a neoprene shirt which is like a wetsuit top but less than 1mm thick. Mine is 1/4mm and short-sleeved). It packs well, looks great, and keeps you warm enought that people will ask to borrow it. There are lycra/spandex shirts that look like neoprene shirts, and claim to be snorkeling shirts, but don't keep you as warm. They are really just undershirts for wetsuits. What are the flat triangular foot coverings used for snorkeling?
Swim fins or "Flippers". They are used to increase the propulsion efficiency of the legs
Why do landcruisers have a snorkel?
For those Landcruisers that are equipped with a snorkel, it allows the vehicle to cross through bodies of water which normally would be impassable.
The snorkel is attached to the air intake for the engine and effectively raises the location of the air intake such that the vehicle can drive through water that normally would be sucked into the air intake causing a stall.
Does zxr 750 k1 have a snorkel in the back of the airbox?

Can you go snorkeling in gran canaria?
Yes, there are several good places to go Snorkeling in Gran Canaria. Starting in the capital, the northern part of Playa de Las Canteras is protected by a bar which forms a big lagoon with plenty of marine life. Coming further South the Marine Reserve at 'El Cabrón' near the town of Arinaga has several places where you can snorkel, although access to the Playa del Cabrón requires a trip down an unmade road. Ask at the local dive centre for directions or advice. In the South of the Island then Arguinenguine bay, Amadores bay, Tauro, Taurito and Mogan all have beaches from which you can snorkel, although there is not as much variety of marine species here as the areas are used by swimmers and other water activities.
