No, softball is not just for girls. Usually girls play 11 inch if they are 10 years old and under, but and if you are on a team older you play 12 inch. Girls mostly play 11 and 12 inch, but boys and girls can both play 16 inch. This uses a big ball and can be used with or without a mit. The only other big difference is the pitcher only pitches underhand with no full windup, also the ball is pitched about 6 feet high in the air.
