What help would be needed? In fastpitch softball it is legal to hit a pitch that touchs the ground 1st. In slo-pitch, then the ruling should be a foul ball. ---- It is also completely legal in MLB and little league baseball as well.
In USSSA softball, if a pitched ball strikes the ground before crossing home plate not only can the batter legally hit the ball, but any runners on base may immediately leave their base and run toward the next base. If the batter does not swing and hit the ball, it is called a ball and the runners must return to their bases.
No, a wild pitch is a wild pitch -- it is considered a mistake charged to the pitcher.

There are a lot of softball coaching tips. Here are a few:

Is it permitted to use a fast pitch bat in a slow pitch game?
I don't know what the "legal" umpire answer would be, but I do know that fastpitch bats are made lighter so they can be swung quicker. It seems like you would want to use a slowpitch bat in slowpitch for the extra power you would get from the extra weight of the bat.
There is no rule against it as long as the bat is an approved bat in the league you are playing in, i.e. ASA, USSSA, ISA, NSA.
What do the base paths measure on the softball field?
The base paths measure 3 feet on each side of the runner. When a runner changes direction, like if they were in a pickle, then a new base path is determined from that point in a straight line to the bases. This is to prevent girls from running all over the field to avoid being tagged out.

A smushball is a softer ball used for hitting drills. Much like a stressball only it seems more durable, the balls are used indoors or outdoors, in the rain, in the wind etc. They can be used to hit against fences and cause no damage. They are a good alternative to whiffle balls, which tend to break easier. The origin of smushballs came in 2004, when a father, Troy Mohrman in Utah had shoulder surgery and could not throw baseballs at the time to his son (Joseph) or his son's team. He used the smaller, golf ball size whiffle balls which worked except in the wind and they could break. He then discovered a heavy duty stress ball and started trying that and from there developed the smushball as he says you can smash them or crush them. The team used them from then on and the original case three years ago is still being used. The team used them prior to games, at practices etc and attribute winning their local state Pony championship on their hitting, where as a team, the average was over .500! The balls were also used with softball teams. Smushballs are now used in over half the United States and more information can be found at www.smushballs.com
Can a catcher in slow pitch softball block the plate if theres a play at home?
No player including the catcher is allowed to block the base unless he has the ball. It would be defensive interference and the runner would be safe. The rule is generally not enforced if the ball and the runner arrive at the same time.
The reason home plate is somewhat different than second or third is because a runner does not need to remain on home plate where at second and third, overrunning the bag could allow the runner to be tagged out.
Why does a pitcher stand a little bit closer in softball than they do in baseball?
Well you could argue that women need a bigger ball to hit or another possibility and probably the most likely is the fact that throwing a smaller ball completely underhand would do nothing so they need a bigger ball to get more pitch movement
