The large multi-stage rocket called the Saturn V launched men to the Moon from 1968 to 1972. The new vehicle (2017) will be called the Ares 1 booster. (The Space Shuttle is not a lunar-capable vehicle.)

Actually its the other way around, if a rocket were to launch off the moon it would take less fuel than if it had launched off of earth. It would take less fuel because the moon has lighter gravity.

Astronauts eat dried food, or, really really well packed food. They pack food really really good by sucking out all of the air inside the package. When they eat the dry food, they add water through a little tube.

The temperature in outer space where space shuttles fly can range from extreme cold of around -270 degrees Celsius in the shade to extreme heat of up to 120 degrees Celsius in direct sunlight. The temperature fluctuates depending on whether the spacecraft is in direct sunlight or shadow.

However, there have been instances where astronauts have made it back to their spacecraft or station after experiencing a spacewalk or other accidents. A spacecraft travelling at approximately 25,000 miles per hour can escape Earth's orbit. This speed is known as the escape velocity and allows the spacecraft to overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth.
