well if you get a certain badge you are able to use the hologram scout to explore planets and by doing some missions that you can do with the expansion pack you beam down to a planet and follow the mission derections.

What you do is edit a Maxis adventure, such as Defend the Crystal Mine, and find an advanced set creature. You can make it do alot of things and just delete any unnesisary creatures in the adventure. That way, you can create your own adventure with an advanced creature. You can also change the creature with another one and will still be set to advanced.
How do you make floating parts in spore?
I don't believe you can make "floating" parts in Spore. You can put the legs where the arms should be, same with the arms. Just switch them around and you can have an awesome looking alien.
