Staph Infections

Normal folks have staph germs all over their bodies, all the time. Bathing often keeps the germs off of you, somewhat. A substance on the skin that your body produces - gamma globulin - keep the staph germs under control so that your skin rarely becomes infected.

Any body place that does not get bathed much, or any place that gets scratched are ideal locations for the staph bacteria to get started raising their families and cause infections. A doctor can prescribe ointments, tablets, or a shot that should get rid of the infection, if caught soon enough. She can also tell you if the infection is staph, or even a fungus infection like tynia.

Amoxicillin is not likely to be effective.

There are a number of different places as to where a person may be exposed to a staph infection. These most often include public places such as gyms, schools, and hospitals.

Well considering what goes up your nose daily and the fact that you had a staph infection, I would suggest you consult your doctor to be sure you wont have any issues with the piercing. Your sinuses retain bacteria, mould spores, irritants and whole host of other airborne nasties so having had staph means your system won't be as strong as it was and may react poorly to the piercing. See your doc for advice.

An elbow that is infected with staph infection will be red and it may have sores on it. In worst cases, the sores are open and oozing.

Staph infection is caused by skin to skin contact. It is rare the you could get staph infection from drinking after someone. However, if they touched the glass with their hands where you were drinking, it is possible if they touched their infected wound first.

That would be a most excellent way to spread staph.

Topical steroids are more likely to worsen staph. They are not effective in curing staph.

You should not use neosporin as a lubricant. You should not use neosporin more often than absolutely necessary.

Excellent question. I don't think there is a logical answer and I presume you are disgusted by that double standard for atheletes and entertainers. If that's the case, most people would agree with you, but so many of us feel that it's just what they do and that there is no way for us to prevent it. We can refuse to do business with companies that advertise at sporting events when the event involves a criminal athelete. We have the control over business and consumers can vote with our pocketbooks... but unfortunately we don't.

MRSA is a contagious bacterial infection that spreads through direct skin to skin contact with people, or by touching contaminated surfaces, however MRSA can also move through air. People with active MRSA or Staph infections are more contagious, but even MRSA carriers who are not infected can spread it to others causing infections.

It's a bad idea for you, as it depresses your immune system, and a thoughtless thing to do for the people who will use the tanning bed after you.

Yes, it does contribute to that. While doing meth, your skin gets oily and dirty, more than usual. Your immune system gets out of balance. You are inclined to get bumps and hives. You are likely to pick at those, and that easily gets infected.

Brown recluse is worse than a staph infection. Staph infection is on most surfaces that you touch daily and your body can fight it off easier than the fast progressing bite.

Staph is a common bacteria. It's everywhere. If your immune system is ok you shouldn't have any more of a risk of getting it provided that you use good hygene and keep yourself reasonably clean. Staph infection gets into small cuts and sometimes even pores of people with weakened immune system. Sometimes it's just because they haven't been eating right or maybe not getting enough sleep or who knows what. Don't get too excited about it, but make sure the dishes are clean.
