You first need to know that Stardates in Star Trek start at the basedate. The basedate is January 1, 2323 (Stardate 0).

Stardate units standardize time measurement between various cultures, worlds and races. Stardates are calculated through a complicated equation that takes into account relativistic effects, universal expansion and the effects of gravity on time and space. Starfleet vessels did this by contacting a nearby Starfleet time beacon and adjusting their internal chronometer.

Commanding officers wear red along with pilots and navigation. Yellow is worn by people in ship operations (ex: security and engineering). Blue was worn by science and medical departments.

As of 2013, the original Star Trek series is shown on MeTV. This is secondary channel in many parts of the country.

The ratings were poor and the writers took too long to get to showing the first Klingon-Federation war. Many viewers were eagerly awaiting to see how the first war would take place. Instead all we got was the Zindi crap.

If you are referring to the new movie, there isn't a counselor (or at least not one who features as a main character)

But if you are talking about the Next Generation series then Deanna Troi is ship's counselor.

Considering George Lucas set a new standard for technology used in film making, and brought surround sound to the big screen, having Star Wars: A New Hope, in theaters for 3 consecutive years, there is no comparison. Star Wars is a far greater movie trilogy then Lord of the Rings due to the fact that Star Wars set the standard for what movies are today. Without Lucas, there is no Jackson.

Ignoring surround sound. Which you can enjoy both without. You have to look at the movies themselves. There are screw ups in acting in SW as are there terrible actors. The plot got changed and there are still holes and questions waiting to be answered. On the other end of the question. The Lord of the rings has amazing scenery, some of the best acting I've seen in a long time, and a cast of fantastic actors. The story is epic, deep, and profound. So in my own personal opinion I'd say The Lord of the Rings.
