In the sci-fi terms that define what a lightsaber is constructed of, it wouldn't work. But even George Lucas himself admitted that he was simply creating fiction and didn't know anything about how it would work. He just called it a lightsaber because...well...it emits light. When you go home and say "turn on the light, would ya?" are you referring to a nonstop beam of light? No, you're visually describing an incandescent bulb operated by electricity, which of course emits light. Physicists always yammer about how you can't generate enough power to inject a plasma into a magnetic field, which bugs me because they're always talking about plasma and magnetic fields as if one has absolutely nothing to do with the other - like they should be regarded as two separate and unlinked entities. Let's talk electricity. A flow of charge generates an electromagnetic field, and vice-versa an EM field will generate a flow of charge. Now let's talk about conductivity. Your best conductors are silver and copper. These are good conductors. Some materials oppose a flow of charge - these are known as nonconductors. But, as fate would have it, nonconductors will conduct just fine if they become ionized. For example, a simple capacitor utilizes this concept. A charge builds up one one end of the capacitor, seeking to dump to the other end to complete its circuit. To accomplish this task, a nonconductor is sandwiched in between. And that's when something amazing happens. When enough charge builds up, the nonconductor becomes ionized and the capacitor is able to make its charge dump. When this occurs, the nonconductive material returns to its nonconductive state and the process starts all over again. Of course, you're thinking, how does this answer my question? We live on a giant capacitor. The clouds in the sky will gradually build up a static charge. And naturally, when enough charge builds up, you get lightning. Air is a nonconductive material until it becomes ionized. And when a material becomes ionized, this means that each atom has enough energy to excite its electrons to another level until one gets bumped off. What results is a flow of charge, a flow of electrons, charge in motion - a current, pushed by a massive voltage. This of course leads me right into plasma. What IS plasma? Plasma is simply an ionized gas. It doesn't matter what type of gas it is, as long as it IS a gas. Air is a gas, and when it becomes ionized, it is converted to plasma - this is what we call lightning. And, of course, I'll say it again - any charge in motion generates an EM field, and therefore plasmas generate their own EM fields. This is all I will say for now - that lightning (electron arcing) is the simplest way to create a plasma saber. Of course, lightning zigzags, because it follows a nonlinear path of the least resistive molecules in the air. If you use a laser in tandem to heat the molecules, this will provide a linear path of least resistance. And PLEASE remember that like polarities will always repel. If you keep it simple, simple solutions will always present themselves. This is all I will write, for if I give any more information, it simply would be no fun for you. A good guess, but not quite accurate. The actor who portrayed Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) demanded that his Light saber be purple if George Lucas wanted him in the movie. George originally only wanted blue and green light sabers as a show of unity and theme, but he acquiesced to Mr. Jacksons request in the end.

If you are looking for a Canon (or In-story) excuse, then its because the Jedi Order only had access to so many Lightsaber Crystal Caves (my name for the caves where jedi find the crystals that are the heart of their lightsaber) at that point. The crystals in the lightsabers are what give them each their own unique colour. At that time the Jedi Order only had access to green and blue crystals (in general). Other colours were less common.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

There is some side story about Darth Maul coming back to life with machanical legs, but that's stupid and hasn't been proven as cannon. It's says that he duel Obi-Wan on Tattooine before being shot in the back of the head by Uncle Owen. I mean seriously, a Sith Lord that comes back to life is killed by a farmer with a blaster, a farmer that was easily killed but a group a stormtroopers later on. Darth Maul didn't come back to life, he died when Obi-Wan killed him.

There is some stuff that his spirit dueled with Darth Vader, but that could be Vader dueling a vision of someone who's really their in spirit, so that could be true that Maul doesn't return in body but maybe in spirit.

First answer was right. Lucas gave the character the name Anakin Starkiller and later decided on Luke while giving his father the name Anakin.

Anakin Skywalker kills Dooku although he is well under the influence of the Dark Side & Palpatine when he kills him so he wasn't exactly a Jedi any longer.

Jedi Knights are allowed to have apprentices. Remember Anakin became Obi-Wan's apprentice in Episode I. Obi-Wan at that time had just attained Knighthood. So, once you're a Jedi Knight you are fully trained and therefore qualify to train an apprentice. Jedi Master is basically just a higher position in the order. Usually, a Jedi is granted the rank of Master after having successfully trained an apprentice.

He is a very deadly robotic Sith warrior with four lightsabrs. He has killed 32 Jedi on the battlefield. He took their lightsabers as trophies for defeating his enemies. He can hold up to 5 lightsabers, his two hands can split into four, and he can hold one in one foot, the other for balancing. There are factors to point towards either being a victor.

For example, Harry has extensive magic to use including expelliarmus, which may remove the saber from DV's hand, as would wingardium leviosa. He can also protect himself with protego, or launch attacks like any unforgivable curse, petrificus totalus, and other small hexes.

On the other hand, DV has extensive use of the force which he can also use to perform certain actions, like picking up objects and making them fly at Harry. However, he cannot protect himself as well as Harry can, and Harry can protect himself from the attacks that DV makes on him.

All over, whilst both stand a good chance, it is most likely that Harry could kill him as he has a simple spell to do so whilst DV must do so by not only physically hurting Harry, but also without getting killed himself and getting around Harry's protection to attack him at all.

Yes, but not only once. In "Revenge of the Sith," Obi-Wan defeated the duel against Vader by cutting off both of his legs and his left arm. And in "Return of the Jedi," Vader got his right hand cut off because Luke Skywalker was giving into anger and he was dueling Vader within his rage. When Vader was originally Anakin Skywalker in "Attack of the Clones," Anakin lost his right arm during a duel with Count Dooku on Geonosis.

Dart Plagues the Wise (not whites) was a Sith Lord who developed the power to keep people he cared about alive but he never used it himself. He trained his apprentice in the most brutal ways constantly making his apprentice face his fears and things he hated. The Sith Lord's apprentice (Palpatine aka Darth Sideous) was very eager to discover the secret. Eventually the Sith Lord was getting old and told Sideous the secret to immortality with Sideous aware of the secret he did not need his master anymore and killed him in his sleep. He had the power to escape death but couldn't escape his own.
