My 4 year old has her tonsils and she's got to get them removed asap, sick or not, because it flared her tonsils and they grew 10x bigger than what they were before. Pharyngitis comes in acute stage, or the 'just caught it' stage. It can give you the symptoms a flu bug can give to you. Fevers, body aches, cramps inside your stomach, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, no appetite, runny nose, dehydration... etc etc. Eventually if you cannot push fluids on your own to try and fight off this bacteria, you'll have to go to your doctor, or the emergency room. Emergency room can give you IV and fluids, possible medication such as a pain killer or regular extra strength Tylenol. I was just in the ER yesterday morning and they gave me 2 extra strength Tylenol (1,000Mg), and I couldn't tell you how much that helped me and I didn't know Tylenol could break it! It broke the fever (103.4 was my fever), I broke into a huge cold sweat, and my throat didn't feel like it had razor blades sunk into my upper esophagus. Just remember, the mask, it'll help a lot. Even if you look dorky or weird. But deep down you know if you're out of bed with Pharyngitis, the mask will protect others, too. Also, keep those fingers away from your runny nose. The snot can be irritating and frustrating, but if you fiddle with your nose, that can keep your pharyngitis to continue. Not going away. Use hand sanitizer and wash your hands repeatedly if your fingers go anywhere near your lips, mouth, and nose. Hope this helped.

For about a week, I've had Strep throat but hadnt been to the doctor. Eventually, the pain got to me and he prescribed me some antibiotics (Amoxicillin Trihydrate). I took my one pill that afternoon, and one after dinner. I took a third one this morning around 6 AM and went back to sleep.

I woke up feeling something in the back of my throat i just couldn't swallow. Turns out its my uvula.

Since i don't know my regular tongue size (never knew i would need to), im not sure if its my throat slightly swelling again, my tongue swelling (i think that might be it), or my uvula swollen (can that even happen?)

You can not know the cause of sore throat on clinical examination. You need to do the throat swab culture for the same.

You are probably a carier of the bacteria that causes strep throat infection. Go see your doc when you are healthy and get checked for it and they can tell you what to do from there.

I was just prescribed Bactrim for strep and it was the worse antibiotic I have ever taken. It made me feel worse than I did in the first place. It gave me a severe headache, a tingling sensation in my legs, and a fever. Try to get a Z-pack.

If you are referring specifically to the two large knobs that can appear at the back of the throat on either side of the uvula, probably coated in yellow or white spots of discharge, the answer is your tonsils.
