Is strep throat transmitted in the air?
Yes and no. Depends on it's severity that is inside /you/. I and my daughter have pharyngitis... She's 4, I'm 21, and we both caught it, and I was over at my friends the other day and she caught it, but it didn't hit her hard. Make sure to wear a mask at all times when you get this disease. If it's not treated, it will spread in the back of your throat, even along your tongue and on the roof of your mouth. I'm no doctor, but I learned this helpful information from my own doctor. Keep your loved ones safe by wearing a mask if you're going to visit or live in the same house hold as the loved ones or even room mates. Also, here's the confusion everyone seems to get quite often... (I also learned this from my doctor because I thought the same thing..) Pharyngitis is no where near close to being strep. Your throat can be swabbed on a strep test and it'd come back negative. Two different type of bacterial. All it is, is bacteria that accumulates in the back of your throat and if you have tonsils, it can also flare up tonsillitis. My 4 year old has her tonsils and she's got to get them removed asap, sick or not, because it flared her tonsils and they grew 10x bigger than what they were before. Pharyngitis comes in acute stage, or the 'just caught it' stage. It can give you the symptoms a flu bug can give to you. Fevers, body aches, cramps inside your stomach, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, no appetite, runny nose, dehydration... etc etc. Eventually if you cannot push fluids on your own to try and fight off this bacteria, you'll have to go to your doctor, or the emergency room. Emergency room can give you IV and fluids, possible medication such as a pain killer or regular extra strength Tylenol. I was just in the ER yesterday morning and they gave me 2 extra strength Tylenol (1,000Mg), and I couldn't tell you how much that helped me and I didn't know Tylenol could break it! It broke the fever (103.4 was my fever), I broke into a huge cold sweat, and my throat didn't feel like it had razor blades sunk into my upper esophagus. Just remember, the mask, it'll help a lot. Even if you look dorky or weird. But deep down you know if you're out of bed with Pharyngitis, the mask will protect others, too. Also, keep those fingers away from your runny nose. The snot can be irritating and frustrating, but if you fiddle with your nose, that can keep your pharyngitis to continue. Not going away. Use hand sanitizer and wash your hands repeatedly if your fingers go anywhere near your lips, mouth, and nose. Hope this helped.

How do you know if you have a cold and strep throat?
The common cold is caused by one of the Rhino viruses. Typically these are diagnosed based on symptoms and severity. Since it is a virus, there is no treatment and most doctors these days only treat the symptoms although some of the older ones still give an broad spectrum antibiotic just in case for a secondary bacterial infection. Strep is a bacterial infection and can be diagnosed with a swab of the throat for a culture. If you have symptoms that last more than a day or two you should go to the doctor and have that done because strep can cause serious heart problems if left untreated.
Strep throat bacteria - how long does it live?
Most people with strep are contagious until they have been on antibiotics 24 - 48 hours. They should stay home from school, daycare, or work until they have been on antibiotics for at least a day.
Get a new toothbrush after you are no longer contagious, but before finishing the antibiotics. Otherwise the bacteria can live in the toothbrush and re-infect you when the antibiotics are done. Also, keep your family's toothbrushes and utensils separate, unless they have been washed.
If repeated cases of strep still occur in a family, you might check to see if someone is a strep carrier. Carriers have strep in their throats, but the bacteria do not make them sick. Sometimes, treating them can prevent others from getting strep throat.
They may spread the infection to you before they show symptoms and think to get treatment.

For about a week, I've had Strep throat but hadnt been to the doctor. Eventually, the pain got to me and he prescribed me some antibiotics (Amoxicillin Trihydrate). I took my one pill that afternoon, and one after dinner. I took a third one this morning around 6 AM and went back to sleep.
I woke up feeling something in the back of my throat i just couldn't swallow. Turns out its my uvula.
Since i don't know my regular tongue size (never knew i would need to), im not sure if its my throat slightly swelling again, my tongue swelling (i think that might be it), or my uvula swollen (can that even happen?)
