How good of a school is ivy tech?
In terms of academic excellence, I personally have not heard anything about this school whether it be positive or negative. However, there are a number of issues that concern me, and should concern you. First, it is a "for-profit" institution (meaning it is a business mentality). This in itself does not concern me, but when you couple that with the fact that the ITT Technical Institute (ITT) does not have a regional accreditation; red flags start to raise. ITT is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Thus, unless the institution has special articulations with other colleges and universities; their credits will not be accepted in transfer should you decide to at a later date. In addition, not having a regional accreditation may also promote some problems when attempting to secure a position within the work force where a degree is required. Lastly, ITT was under a Federal investigation in 2004. The grand jury subpoenas facilitated searches in a number of areas to include procedures in admissions and recruitment, salaries, retention, transfer credit, etc. The recommendation would be to stay with regionally accredited colleges and universities.
