Telugu Day is Telugu Language Day. It is celebrated on 29 August which is the birthday of Andhra Luminary, modern poet and language reformer - Gidugu Venkata Rammurthy. He lead a linguistic movement along with Gurajada Appa Rao, the social reformer, for the recognition of the spoken variety of Telugu to get recognition. The official language commission of the government of Andhra Pradesh has given instructions to all educational institutions to commemorate this day, that is 29 August as the official day for the Telugu language. Sanskrit is the oldest among the four languages, followed by Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Sanskrit was already an established classical language before Tamil received its classical status. Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada were recognized as classical languages in the modern era.

Telugu is the most spoken dravidian language in india and so many people mistook with hindi as the most spoken dravidian language!! But it is not so, though hindi is the most spoken language in india but it is not dravidian, it is Indo-Aryan(some say Indo-Persian)
