TIME AND DATE

3. Press START/STOP to select MINUTES.
4. Press ADJUST to change.
5. Repeat to set HOURS, MONTH, DAYS, and DAY of WEEK. Go through 12 hours to set AM or PM.
6. Press MODE when done.
7. To display DATE from Time display , press START/STOP.
8. With DATE displayed press and hold START/STOP, then press ADJUST to change display between DATE-MONTH and MONTH-DATE.
9. With TIME displayed, press and hold ADJUST, then press MODE to switch between 12-and 24-hour format.
ALARM AND HOURLY CHIME
1. Press and hold MODE until HOURS digits, DAY, and A or P (for AM or PM) flash.
2. Press ADJUST to change HOURS digits. Go through 12 hours for AM or PM.
3. Press START/STOP to select MINUTES.
4. Press ADJUST to change.. Press MODE when done.
5. Press and hold ADJUST, then press START/STOP to turn chime on/off. Press START/STOP again to turn alarm on /off. Release START/STOP when done.
CHRONOGRAPH
1. Chronograph will count up to 24 hours. Lap times are not stored. After 40 minutes chrono display changes from seconds to minutes.
2. With time displayed, press MODE to select Chrono Mode.
3. Press START/STOP to start.
4. Press ADJUST to view lap time. Press again to sesume lap timing.
5. Press START/STOP to stop timing . Press ADJUST to reset chrono to zero.
6. Repeat for successive laps.
How do you adjust a Timex ironman watch band?
These are some of the most absolutely frustrating things to replace in the world, and I am NOT exaggerating! It takes FOREVER to get the pins into the proper position. The straps can be purchased just about anywhere, but when replacing them, the pins can only be accessed from the back of the watch, and they are really tricky to get to fit properly, even with a tiny screwdriver to work the pins. I took mine to a jeweler to replace the straps (I should add that the two jewelers I went to first wouldn't even touch it - prior experience with them perhaps?), and he was getting very frustrated with it too... I don't know if the velcro straps are easier, but the exact same version of the straps that came with the originally purchased watch are a nightmare to re-attach. I recently tried to replace my straps, and thought that I had the pins in the right place, and wore the watch for a couple of days. Last night at Safeway, the watch fell off my wrist, the pin for one of the now unattached straps nowhere to be found. So not only are they difficult to replace, but you also wonder if the pins are going to stay in the right position, and if so, for how long! I love the watch, but the straps leave something to be desired. I think that Timex should come up with something a little easier for their loyal Ironman base of customers!
First of all before attempting the replacement, use small rubber bands to fold the straps backwards onto themselves away from their natural curve. This keeps the starps from flopping around in your way when you are working. The TRICK is to shave a little bit of the plastic off in the groove where the strap sits. This helps to compensate for the compression of the rubber in the strap when trying align the pins. I use the inner edge of a small needle nose pliers to do the shaving. I have done this for several freinds and they are happy. The cost difference: ~$50 (for a new watch) vs $1.66 (new watch strap) and a beer. The replacement strap now outlasts the replacement battery.
