How do you reset the tire pressure warning light on a 2008 Toyota Prius?

There is a little panel below the steering column with a reset button on it. You are supposed to get all the tire pressures right, then park the car on a level lot and turn the drive off. Hold the button in for six seconds and it should reset the system to be calibrated to your tire pressures. That's why you get them perfect first. If you just had a soft tire and pumped it up, the light should go out shortly after you get the tire right and drive a little. There's lots more on the subject in the owner's manual. It's worth a read.

How long will Toyota Prius batterys last?

It depends. A mechanic friend of mine said anywhere from 70,000 to 90,000 miles. The down side is they cost ~ $9,000 each (total of $18,000) to replace.

In California and New York they are warrantied for 10 years or 100,000 miles. In most of the rest of the country they are only warrantied for 8 years or 80,000 miles. Therefore I conclude that Toyota is very confident that 90% should last 8 years or 80,000 miles.

How long does it take to charge a Toyota Prius?

The battery which powers the electric motor is charged continuously when the gasoline engine is running, as well as when the brakes are applied. The computer will allow the car to run on the gasoline engine alone if the battery doesn't have enough juice.

Is the Xzylon stain-resistant treatment for new Toyota cars worth the money?

Absolutely not.

To be fair, it probably does work but It's completely over priced.

My Toyota dealer wanted $750 for the Xzilon treatment when we bought our 2008 Tacoma. I actually paid for it knowing how busy we were and how little time we had to wax vehicles. They couldn't apply it right away giving me time to do research. A quick scan of the forums revealed what I suspected. While there is some value to it. It's not worth $750.

It took two weeks, but I got the money back.

I also looked around and bought the exterior Xzilon and an application kit on eBay new for about $15 and did it myself by hand in about an hour. It was very easy to apply and buff out out without machines. For $15 and two hours of my time, it's great. It doesn't shine like wax or bead up very well but it does seem to work OK. We waxed the truck after about six months and the love bugs came off with out pitting and the wax went on and came off more easily. I wouldn't try the spray paint trick they show in the video.

They also had the whole kit on there for about $100 but you can do your interior with a $4 spray can of scotchguard (which dealers used to charge hundreds to apply as well)

A good rule of thumb is that anything the dealer tries to hit you with in the finance guys office is a bad deal for you. zxilon, extended warranties, tires for life, etc are all pure dealer money makers with difficult if not impossible benefits for you to collect.

Yes, do protect your new car. Just don't pay the dealer to do it.

What is the code p3191 in a Toyota Prius?

most likely a dirty throttle body, mine had a bad case of P3191's every-time the temp dropped below about 35-40F... cold start or cold air restart - engine stall after 3 or 4 seconds. I received letter from Toy, said, dirty Throttle Body - take to dealer - took - no charge repair or rather clean, problem solved - for now (been about 3 weeks) - we'll see. Get this - 115,000 miles, 1993 amazing car - love it, on way to dealer for free oil at 115,000 miles stopped at store for gas, off about 5 minutes, outside temp about 40, cold air restart - 4 sec- stalled engine, checked engine oil = nuts on the full line, engine does not use oil or make oil. Get scanner out/plug in/start engine/run scan = P3191, one code. Hop in and drive to dealer with letter and notes of scan on back of letter (5min drive). Ask for oil change and attention to recall letter. Guy comes out and says it's OK, that he cleaned the T-Body and drained some of the oil out 'cause it had too much and that's what caused the P3101 that he erased along with the P3191... SAY WHAT, was this before, during or after the oil change? OH, I did not know you wanted oil changed... Everything done/ no-charge, But I wonder why he lied - I'll never know, even when I called him on it he looked me right in the eye and lied. Next time maybe I'll record the conversation. PS the P3101 is engine failed to start - this has never happened... good luck guys, be sure to check the recalls...
