After much research, I have found that it is possible, but risky. Sarah Luiz, a transsexual woman (though incorrectly called a transgendered person in the press), is a recipient for the womb transplant but even if she does get a transplant her baby is still in risk because her immuno-suppressants (to keep her body from rejecting the womb) may harm the baby. I do hope she gets the womb transplant; it will be a break through for all the young TS women wanting to give birth.

Transsexual women can use Progynova (estradiol valerate). Doctors would likely prescribe 4-6mg of it to transsexual women. They might also prescribe about 200 mg of spironolactone a day in divided doses. Of course, when given such a regimen, doctors would check liver function, blood clotting times, prolactin levels (to help prevent or detect a certain type of brain tumor), glucose, and electrolyte levels (if taking spironolactone). So this is NOT something you should do yourself.

It is best to use the term transsexual as an adjective. The term transsexual refers to a condition, not a type of person. Gay people or known as "homosexuals" in the 1960's on TV were never depicted in a positive light. No gay characters were ever seen on any shows in those dark days either. If the topic did arise, and it did, however seldom, it was always on a David Susskind type of talk show where "the homosexual" was presented as the "third sex." Some type of dark and lowly creature. Maladjusted, unhappy, an alcoholic and crazed sex pervert, or worse, a potential child predator. Often depicted as a very effeminate and unreliable flake, this dangerous and false stereotype persisted for decades. Did anyone ever think that the very homophobic and hostile environment itself helped shape the mental state of those that were not heterosexual in those days ? However, this is exactly what occurred. Gay people were branded "mentally ill" and their relative dysfunction in a society were they were anathema is no big revelation. Only in 1972 dis the APA remove the mentally ill label from homosexuals. Today, it is quite another story. Not all people are heterosexual. Gay men and lesbians are valued and successful human beings in every endeavor of life. FTM guys don't produce sperm, so they cannot impregnate a woman in the "standard" fashion. But there are many options out there for couples who want to conceive.

Actually, "transsexual woman" would refer for to a TS woman before her surgery (pre-op) to get the female parts she believes she was always supposed to have. After surgery, a transsexual woman would be just a woman. The gender after the word transsexual always refers to how the person sees themselves and the body they believe they were supposed to have all along. It would be easier if people would think of transsexualism like a birth defect or medical condition. Instead of "men becoming women," it would be seen as women fixing a birth condition. Likewise with the transsexual men being men born with the wrong parts rather than women becoming men. Just like a diabetic woman is considered a woman, why can't a TS woman be seen as a woman who was born with this condition which robbed her of female parts and who needs surgery to eliminate this?

Post-op is used in the context of the transsexualism condition, not the transgendered lifestyle. Persons with transsexualism usually get the surgery eventually, while those with transgenderism usually do not. If someone is post-op, then technically, they are not a TS any longer, just a full member of their surgically corrected sex. Many assume the surgery to be medically unnecessary. However, those who genuinely have transsexualism need this surgery to prevent suicide, live the same lives as person born with the correct parts for their gender, be legally recognized as who they have always been, and to have the same lives as if they never had this condition. The surgery only changes the physical sex (the body) to the extent possible and has no bearing on gender (who you are). The official name for the corrective surgery is sex-reassignment, since it changes the body. Changing the gender would require brain surgery.

A transsexual person is the opposite gender of the sex their body was born with. A transsexual man was born with a 'female' body, a transsexual woman was born with a 'male' body. Pre-op, non-op, post-op has nothing to do with who you are. Surgery or the lack of it doesn't change who you are. The 'sex' label at the end relates to who you are, not what you have below. Those with transsexualism are either pre-op or post-op, while TGs are non-op.

Someone who genuinely has transsexualism will want the same parts as others with the same gender identity. Not all will be able to get surgery, but ability has nothing to do with motives nor desire. TG persons on the other hand don't typically identify with the "other gender" enough to want the corresponding parts for what they claim as their gender.

Transgenderism is more about gender role or expression than gender identity. A MtF transgender person lives as a woman and will likely keep male genitals for life. A FtM transgender person lives a partially masculinized life. However, it is polite to refer to them as the gender they are expressing. Why would someone waste money on a dress if they didn't want to be called female pronouns?

No, it cannot physically change your gender. If you are a boy, you cannot suddenly change into a girl and vice versa. But, you may feel like a girl on the inside, which is perfectly normal. You can emotionally and mentally feel like the opposite gender if your hormones are unbalanced.

Such tests should be used only as clarification and not as justification. If you don't know how deep your gender conflict is, then such tests can luminate that fact, but they should not be used as an excuse or blamed if one decides on surgery one does not really want or need.

No transsexual woman can carry a child. The operation only creates a neovagina, not a uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries. Hopefully, that can come someday in the near future.
