Why do some MTF patients delay having an orchiectomy?

Some persons postpone surgery for a longer period of time, often for financial reasons; others choose to continue on estrogen therapy indefinitely without surgery.

Is there a link between aspergers and transsexual?

Asperger's Syndrome doesn't discriminate. But TSism is probably more common in Aspergers .

That said, there is some evidence that children with autistic spectrum disorders (including AS) go through periods of gender confusion more often than kids from a neuro-typical spectrum. Thus, around puberty, an AS child may suddenly declare that he is gay, for example, and 6 months later "change his mind." Given that homosexuality and other gender issues are presumed to be biological and not emotional states, we see the issue of gender confusion more often in those kids who have issues with socialization in general, such as AS kids.

Then there is the diminishing of Asperger's syndrome in general and the new concepts of autism spectrum as being a more vague classification in our new awareness and the DSM-V.

There is good evidence to suggest what we see as social miss cue reading might be contributed to a transsexual's brain, that often cannot parody their assigned gender which develops comorbidity of autistic like symptoms, ADD, dyspraxia.

Depending on demands of strong social interactions, effect how well a transsexual masks and adjusts to social interactions and recognition of social cues.

Its pretty obvious true transsexuals are not finding discomfort simply on masculine or feminine object, but on cues, and more to the point micro-cues that are gender specific. This parody demand we see in social groupings of acting and playing with boys or girls, also require a transsexual to construct a self model of parody with their assigned gender, we see this as sometimes hyper-parody or rejection entirely.

If the latter is the result, anti-social distancing can occur, causing even more problems in emotive processing of more articulate social cue recognition leaving someone with what seems autistic. Lower social demands, or a more gender neutral environment, allow a transsexual to interact with less stress, allowing the emotive development of articulate social cue recognition.

How can you tell if someone is a transsexual?

"IT"'s never anything. The only person who ever should be asking about "telling" if a person is transsexual, is the person themselves as in "Am I transsexual?" It's none of your business what is another person's chromosomal design, nor is their gender configuration any of your business. I don't ask if your "___" bends to the left or your "______" is hairy, don't ask me about mine.

And with modern techniques, maleTofemale (m2f) reconstructive surgery is so good, without going further than most women care for a gynecologist to go or using xrays or mri's, the closest a Doctor can come to actual birth gender is by assuming the patient had a hysterectomy.

Most people haven't learned yet that human's don't come in just 2 sexes - human sexuality is much more complex than that: it really is a spectrum from female to male. You can be born with male parts externally, chromosomes of XY and yet have some or all female parts internally. You can be born with XX as your chromosomes, yet you have testes internally. You can be born with parts that are partially both and neither. The more complex the design of a thing, the more likely are variants in design and form.
When they tell you.

How can a transsexual woman get a woman pregnant?

If a transsexual woman was born with a male body and had sexual relations with a female before her sex reassignment surgery (and preferably before hormone usage), then she has the same possibility as anyone else at getting the female pregnant.

However, if a transsexual man was born with a female body and had sex reassignment surgery to become physically male, and had sexual relations with a female after the surgery, then no he cannot get a woman pregnant.

Usage notes: Transsexuals and transgender are not the same thing. If someone will eventually get surgery, transsexual is the correct term, while if the person will never get surgery, transgender is the correct therm. People are born with transsexualism and get surgery to eliminate it. However, most transgenderism is a choice, and a transgender person doesn't become a transsexual. Transsexual persons get surgery to eliminate their transsexualism, conform, and gain the same rights as those born without it. Also, sex-reassignment is the correct term, since it is the physical sex that is changed, not the gender identity the person was born with. If a person discusses the condition of transsexualism, it is rude and in bad form to change the topic to transgenderism.

Will womb transplants or embryo implants for transsexual women be carried out soon?

After much research, I have found that it is possible, but risky. Sarah Luiz, a transsexual woman (though incorrectly called a transgendered person in the press), is a recipient for the womb transplant but even if she does get a transplant her baby is still in risk because her immuno-suppressants (to keep her body from rejecting the womb) may harm the baby. I do hope she gets the womb transplant; it will be a break through for all the young TS women wanting to give birth.

Can transsexuals use progynova?

Transsexual women can use Progynova (estradiol valerate). Doctors would likely prescribe 4-6mg of it to transsexual women. They might also prescribe about 200 mg of spironolactone a day in divided doses. Of course, when given such a regimen, doctors would check liver function, blood clotting times, prolactin levels (to help prevent or detect a certain type of brain tumor), glucose, and electrolyte levels (if taking spironolactone). So this is NOT something you should do yourself.

What are the characteristics of a transsexual?

A transsexual person is somebody who is medically obligated to change their physical attributes that make them appear to be one sex when in actuality their brain is the other and should have made the body to match in-utero.

It is best to use the term transsexual as an adjective. The term transsexual refers to a condition, not a type of person. They are a person who happens to have transsexualism, not something other than male or female. They have lives, preferences, accomplishments, etc., and they have a wide range of professions including law, psychiatry, computer science, and medicine. We do not refer to cancer patients as "cancers." They have cancer, and cancer does not define who they are as an individual.

Is Wendy Williams the talk show host a transsexual?

Gay people or known as "homosexuals" in the 1960's on TV were never depicted in a positive light. No gay characters were ever seen on any shows in those dark days either. If the topic did arise, and it did, however seldom, it was always on a David Susskind type of talk show where "the homosexual" was presented as the "third sex." Some type of dark and lowly creature. Maladjusted, unhappy, an alcoholic and crazed sex pervert, or worse, a potential child predator. Often depicted as a very effeminate and unreliable flake, this dangerous and false stereotype persisted for decades. Did anyone ever think that the very homophobic and hostile environment itself helped shape the mental state of those that were not heterosexual in those days ? If you put a person in a pressure cooker and turn it on high, and then they explode,...do you then say ,wonder why that happened ? They must have been weak and defective....and therefore sick ! However, this is exactly what occurred. Gay people were branded "mentally ill" and their relative dysfunction in a society were they were anathema is no big revelation. Only in 1972 dis the APA remove the mentally ill label from homosexuals. Today, it is quite another story. Not all people are heterosexual. Gay men and lesbians are valued and successful human beings in every endeavor of life. How does preferring the same gender sexually and emotionally translate into one being a bad or sick person, I ask ?

Is a transsexual woman a post-op male or a post-op female?

Actually, "transsexual woman" would refer for to a TS woman before her surgery (pre-op) to get the female parts she believes she was always supposed to have. After surgery, a transsexual woman would be just a woman. The gender after the word transsexual always refers to how the person sees themselves and the body they believe they were supposed to have all along. It would be easier if people would think of transsexualism like a birth defect or medical condition. Instead of "men becoming women," it would be seen as women fixing a birth condition. Likewise with the transsexual men being men born with the wrong parts rather than women becoming men. Just like a diabetic woman is considered a woman, why can't a TS woman be seen as a woman who was born with this condition which robbed her of female parts and who needs surgery to eliminate this?

Post-op is used in the context of the transsexualism condition, not the transgendered lifestyle. Persons with transsexualism usually get the surgery eventually, while those with transgenderism usually do not. If someone is post-op, then technically, they are not a TS any longer, just a full member of their surgically corrected sex. Many assume the surgery to be medically unnecessary. However, those who genuinely have transsexualism need this surgery to prevent suicide, live the same lives as person born with the correct parts for their gender, be legally recognized as who they have always been, and to have the same lives as if they never had this condition. The surgery only changes the physical sex (the body) to the extent possible and has no bearing on gender (who you are). The official name for the corrective surgery is sex-reassignment, since it changes the body. Changing the gender would require brain surgery.

A transsexual person is the opposite gender of the sex their body was born with. A transsexual man was born with a 'female' body, a transsexual woman was born with a 'male' body. Pre-op, non-op, post-op has nothing to do with who you are. Surgery or the lack of it doesn't change who you are. The 'sex' label at the end relates to who you are, not what you have below. Those with transsexualism are either pre-op or post-op, while TGs are non-op.

Someone who genuinely has transsexualism will want the same parts as others with the same gender identity. Not all will be able to get surgery, but ability has nothing to do with motives nor desire. TG persons on the other hand don't typically identify with the "other gender" enough to want the corresponding parts for what they claim as their gender.

Transgenderism is more about gender role or expression than gender identity. A MtF transgender person lives as a woman and will likely keep male genitals for life. A FtM transgender person lives a partially masculinized life. However, it is polite to refer to them as the gender they are expressing. Why would someone waste money on a dress if they didn't want to be called female pronouns?

You are born a transsexual. You know you're not right your entire life.

Can unbalanced hormones change your gender from male to female?

No, it cannot physically change your gender. If you are a boy, you cannot suddenly change into a girl and vice versa. But, you may feel like a girl on the inside, which is perfectly normal. You can emotionally and mentally feel like the opposite gender if your hormones are unbalanced.

Are transsexual tests accurate?

If you are talking about popular quizzes like the COGIATI, then they are only as accurate as one is honest. However, the COGIATI is only written for the Male to Female (transwoman), not Female to Males (transmen). Also, the COGIATI is not considered "scientific" nor is endorsed by any professional organization.

Such tests may contain things that are considered stereotypes and pseudoscience. For instance, the informal tests asks about things like a preference for wearing dresses, when very few women wear dresses anymore. The tests may also operate on the theory of mental gender, and thus will ask questions about how you do certain tasks or what answer you get if you work a certain problem in your head. There are well-adjusted women who would test in the "masculine" range here.

One interesting gender identity test relies on current social constructs and AI logic. How it works is ask people a number of questions about things that people don't associate by gender. For instance, they ask about 2 neutral colors (blue v. white), what suicide method one might choose, what word of two neutral choices is the most offensive to them (used v. moist), etc. Then it compares the answers you give, predicts your gender based on other people's answers, then asks you for the truth. So, for that test, more women prefer blue over white when compared to men, for instance.

Such tests should be used only as clarification and not as justification. If you don't know how deep your gender conflict is, then such tests can luminate that fact, but they should not be used as an excuse or blamed if one decides on surgery one does not really want or need.

Is Wendy Williams a transsexual?

She can be transgender, you never know unless Wendy actually says it. She has a son, so she might not be transgender. She could have gotten vocal surgery to change her voice.

The sure-fire way to tell if someone is man or woman is to look at the hands. Specifically, if the ring finger is longer than the index finger, you're looking at a man. Based on what I can see from her show on TV, her (his) ring finger looks longer than her (his) index finger. Surgeries and hormones can change other appearances more or less, but that's the give-away. Look for yourself and decide.
