What are the major continents of Trinidad and Tobago?

I would ask what your definition of a continent is first. The short answer is South America. People might contest that but then you could also contest that Manhattan is an island and is therefore not a part of North America.

Interesting response SiSi Martinez, but Midnight9635 is indeed correct and you are a little confused.

  • First of all, Trinidad and Tobago is in fact an independent country and gained it's independence in 1962 from UK. It became a Republic in 1976, although it still uses the British Privy Council as its final court of appeal.
  • 2nd, Manhattan is not governed by the North American continent, but by the United States of America.
  • 3rd, you are correct in that T&T is not governed by any continent, but, that is true for EVERY country and nation. Continents are GEOLOGICAL land masses and are not governed, nor do they have governments that govern other places. They are simply pieces of land with geological boundaries.
  • Lastly, T&T IS, in every way, form and fashion, part of a continent. Which one is up for debate... Geologicallyspeaking, it is part of the South American continent. It is 7 miles off the coast of Venezuela and physically part of the South America land mass. Technically speaking, it is considered to be part of North America, because it is part of the Caribbean Islands, which are considered to be part of North America, as listed here in the World Atlas http://www.worldatlas.com/cntycont.htm

Hope this clears it up for you.

Where in Trinidad can you buy an air rifle?

You need to have an air rifle permit granted by the commissioner of police in order to own an air rifle. To obtain one you first need to obtain a certificate of good character from your district police station and write a simple cover letter addressed to the commissioner requesting permission to purchase and own one (1) smooth bore .177 caliber air rifle (that's all that's allowed in this country). This letter together with the certificate of character needs to be dropped in to the office of the commissioner of police in Port of Spain and they will tell you when it will be granted. Some air rifle dealers go through the trouble of doing this for you once you make a down payment on a gun and you only need provide them with the letter and certificate and they handle it from there and let you know when you can collect your permit and gun.
