I am guessing that either pandemonium would blow out, or the government would try to keep it under wraps. The movie Transformers gives one possible outcome of the government finding an alien species. In the movie, the government creates a top-secret organization to analyze, observe, and research a robot that they found years ago. No one tells the public, and everything is extremely confidential. I would like to add that the results of the landing of a UFO or alien spaceship will also depend a great deal upon what these aliens do. Results will differ depending upon whether they are friendly or unfriendly, damaged or intact, comprehensible or incomprehensible, which we cannot predict.
