United Airlines has its Head Office in Chicago but also has a big subsidiary office in Houston -Continental Airlines old Head Office pre-merger with United.
Yes, Ted airlines is part of United airlines but it's a smaller branch of United airlines.
As of April 2011 United Airlines is not in Bankruptcy and is merging with Continental Airlines to become the world's largest airline. There is no doubt that some people will either be laid of or when people retire, they will not be replaced. There is also doubt as to Cleveland surviving as a hub in the longer term.
United Airlines has five airport hubs in the United States. With the recent United-Continental merger, the Continental hub of George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, has become the company's largest airport hub (though most of those flights fly under the Continental logo).
When I went through training it was for 4 weeks. We learned City codes Aircraft types the rules for driving on the ramp and how to read the types of paper work we would be using. The last two weeks were spent doing OJT (on job training) we would go to the ZONES and work with the planeside crews.
Yes they do. Chicago O'Hare is a big hub and the home of United Airlines.
It would generally mean 'First Class' - the premium (ie, expensive) class on most airlines.
Yes they do unless you have purchased an unrestricted ticket.
Business objectives are goals or targets that a business set for itself, they differ according to the type of business. Examples are:
1. Survival--usually short term, that is to sustain in the business, or in times of recession to break-even.
2. profit maximization--objective of many businesses, to earn high profits.
3. Growth--measured through market share.
4. Customer satisfaction
5. Diversification--this is growing bigger internally & externally, by means of entering into new markets & investing.
6. Ethos--increasing the image & reputation of the firm.
7. Globalization--to be recognized throughout the world.
8. Independence--some small businesses set up recently will want to just be independent and NT rather follow instructions.
Yes, I just got back from my interview. The starting pay is $40,000/year and the next training class is 1/31/12. They will need 14 ppl in this training group and I believe they will need up to 60 more schedulers.
It really does did depend on where one was flying to and from. Another factor was the class you were flying and how far in advance the flight was booked.
There are many ways to qualify for united airlines mileage plus rewards, you first need to go to their website and sign up, you must also be a frequent flier to take advantage of this program.
There is no single reason but a combination of events and reasons that led up to it. They expanded heavily and quickly in the wake of the dot.com boom and this was quickly followed by Sept 11th 2001 with 2 of their planes being involved. They had already had extensive labor disputes and given staff and pilots in particular a huge pay rise. After that fuel costs began to sky-rocket. This combination of factors along with constantly increasing competition from the likes of Southwest led to it seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The actual take off time was 08.14am but the push back was 07.58am.
The short answer is, "They don't." United has a customer service call in number and email on their site. You can submit to either of those but I have had multiple problems with the airline losing luggage and not reimbursing. Yesterday (12/1/07) they kept an entire planeful of passengers on the runway for 40 minutes then announced that there would be an additional two hour delay because of a "mechanical problem they should have fixed the night before." The best way to get United's Attention to resolve a problem is to contact the FAA and fill out one of their forms. The FAA will then be notified every time United makes an error and they will forward the information to United. I also just discovered an advocacy site for United passengers that have been mistreated by the airline. Notice the URL is not United but UnTIED. This site will share the many customer frustrations and complaints including articles about people that United left stranded in Cancun, because they refused to re-book flights that had been delayed due to weather in connecting cities. The most they have ever done for me after costing me nearly $1000 because of errors they made, was to give me frequent flier vouchers and $100.
