Since Bama is so competitive, it definitely is important to look polished. But the most important thing is finding where you fit in. You should concentrate on dressing for your body type and making sure that you look like you've taken time to do your hair, makeup, outfit, and jewelry. Make sure you follow the dress examples in the book they give you and get something similar in style. But I also really really stress getting something that fits your body type. And make sure it fits, bra straps hanging out and yourself falling out are definitely frowned upon. Grade point averages are important. The higher the better of course. But really anything above about a 3.2 is good. But that is just an estimation. If you have less than that, don't worry. Things will work out if they are supposed to. The main thing is be sure you are prepared to have good conversation and make sure you dress appropriately. Good conversation and that clicking feeling when you know you are in the right house-- that's the overall winner. Oh and may I stress GET RECS!! If you don't have recs and you really click in a house, that is one thing. But a rec ensures that they hear your name and see your resume' months in advance so that they are already prepared to meet and get to know you. Recs are not impossible to get. Look for an alumni chapter near you. Some of those can be found online. Also, it is possible to get in without recs. Really, don't worry too much about it. I am a firm believer that things work out for the best. I went into rush thinking I was going one way and ended up happier somewhere else. Rush is a fun time for meeting people that will be your friends throughout college. Have fun and good luck!!!
