Most likely just a High School Education or a GED (maybe not even that). You also need to go to a trade school that specializes in Underwater Welding. Also, it is a very dangerous job.

This sounds like the type of job that you would network or talk directly to the people in charge of the business. Brainstorm what companies would use welders (oil rigs, heating and ventilation, manufacturers, etc.) in your area and contact them all. It takes awhile for a job hunt to gather momentum, so you will have to get out and on the phone to make your contacts. Make sure you dress very nicely, have a basic resume and present yourself well. They may not have a job immediately, but most places get back with people who they think have promise.

A bachelor's degree in most areas can require between 120 to 128 college credits particular to a specific program of study. This would be based on a college or university that operates on a regular two semester academic year which is the most common. For institutions that operate on a tri-semester or quarter-semester it would be quite different. That being said, the Bachelor's degree - in most cases - is designed as a four year program of study, provided the student is full-time and follows their chosen program of study as prescribed by the college or university, and also provided the individual does not require prerequisite or developmental coursework as a result of basic skills testing. The minimum credit load for a full-time student is no less than 12 credits per semester. However, to complete the degree within the four years, a credit load of approximately 15 to 18 credits is recommended. For individuals who work or who have other responsibilities that would prohibit them from attending full-time, completion of the degree may take twice as long. Still, some of this time can be cut down by attending summer sessions and/or interim sessions. In addition, the bachelors and associate degrees are referred to as undergraduate degrees while the masters and doctorate degrees referred to as graduate degrees.

The best Welding School is University of Alaska in Anchorage Alaska. This campus features many communities on campus. If you don't want to travel all the way to Alaska then the second best one for welding is Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

Welding is not generally taught in college, except in centain industrial arts programs. To be certified as a welder, the standard course of instruction at a technical school has to be completed, and then an internship or apprenticeship completeted.

Welding is not for everyone. I am a Combination welder working in FL, I make $25 a hour. I also travel, so i get paid 75 dollars a working day. That comes out to be around $375 on top of my hourly pay. On 45 hour work week i make around $1300. This job will last for maybe 3 more months. After that i have to relocate, maybe to NC, this new jobmay actually pay more too. I do industrial work power plants, paper mills, chemical plants, and concrete plants, but i have to travel. If leaving home is not a option, shops are available. The pay is around $10- $13 dollars a hour. If you do drugs and cant really weld,by all means hire on there. If your a better person hire on with a company that pays $17 and up. These people understand welding! Places that build generators or airplane parts.

Anything important. Don't go weld for "Joe's Metal Doors". If your a illegal alien do it!

All in all, go for the top in welding. Work in a place where they respect the fact of a person exposing themselves to harmful rays and chemicals in the welding Fumes!

Classes for welding are to help you learn how to weld and how not to burn yourself. They have books on how to weld and everything to do with it.

depends on where you live. I live in western Canada and as a journeyman you can make from 28$ to over 100$/h if you want to work up north. Sometimes the average welder can make up to $32,880 yearly, it will also depend on what type of welding you are doing

New building construction especially skyscrapers, shipyards, ornamental iron shops, steel fabricators, vehicle assembly plants, oil wells and drilling platforms. You can weld stainless steel to stainless steel using various welding methods such as TIG welding and MIG welding. However, it is best to get a professional to do the job. And understand that stainless steel does not weld very successfully under any circumstances - it will almost always, inevitably, break right next to the weld.

You turn on the Acetylene and ignite it, you start to add oxygen via the control valve. You will see the colour changes from yellow to blue. There are two shades of blue, one is slightly darker than the other. Once the inner blue cone is down to a nice roaring bright light you are more or less set up to weld. Get your Filler wire (welding rod) put on your welding goggles and lower the flame to the piece of metal you wish to weld. You will start to see the metal heat and become molten. The next part takes practice. Once the metal has turned molten immediately start to add the filler wire; keeping the torch at about 45º move along the metal adding the wire at a constant steady rate. Insufficient filler wire will result in either undercut or the pool dropping through. Too much wire or moving to fast will result in either a poor weld or no weld at all. Speed and angles do not need to be 100% correct find what is comfortable for you.

Remember Gas welding is Extremely Dangerous and you should take courses in it before attempting it.

There is two technique of arc initiation, first TAPPING Technique and second SCRATCH Technique. TAPING Technique is generally use in GTAW and SCRATCH Technique is used for SMAW process.

This technique involves a continual stalling of the forward travel motion by traveling backwards slightly, into the previous deposited weld. This technique has two particular functions;

it helps improve the final microstructure, by reducing the solidification rate of the weld puddle and increases throat thickness.

The maintenance needed for the blades of cutting tools is sharpening or replacing the blades when they get dull. For power cutting tools, oil must be checked and added when low. If they have a spark plug, they must be replaced from time to time. For battery cutting tools, the battery must be charged when low and new ones must be purchased from time to time.

Powered cutting tools must be kept out of the rain. Blades of cutting tools need to be kept clean.

Shielded Metal Arc Welding, commonly called Stick welding.

A shielded electrode passes a current between itself and the workpiece.

Both the base-metal and the electrode are melted by the current and the electrode is consumed and deposited into the melted puddle forming the weldment.

Mig (GMAW) has almost replaced Stick (SMAW) in industry. Small machines can weld thin materials and larger machines weld metals of unlimited thickness. Mig is easy to use and has less waste (no stubs) than stick. Flux core wire produces a slag covering but bare wire w/gas leaves a clean weld.

Tack welding is short weld runs given when a work piece is assembled in strategic places. It help to combat pull in the metal associated with full welding runs. It also help in assembly and to rework material if mistakes in meterial measurements have been made as it is easy to break the tackweld of and start over
