Woodlice (Roly-Poly and Pill bug)

They can't see at all they're blind the use smell as a form of finding their way around. Woodlice are in fact not blind, we know this as they are negatively phototaxic. This means that they move away from a light source to try and reach darkness to avoid predators telling us that they can see. However, they only have 25 individual ocelli - therefore although they can see, it is unlikely that they can see very high resolution or in colour - and are likely to only see large moving objects, and use their ocelli primarily to detect changes in light intensity.

1. draw the idea of a poly print on paper e.g a flower or face etc.....

2.trace over it with tracing paper with thicker lines in darker areas.......

3.place the tracing paper on a polystyrene board and prick with a sharp pencil pen or pin or whatever works, prick over the outline in the main areas

4.remove the tracing paper (don't worry if it is ripped or not) you will be left with the outline of your design on the polystyrene board

5. get a board which is easy to wipe paint off of as you need this in a minute also you will need an artist marble paint scraper to roll the paint out onto your board to start the poly print

6.choose the color paint you want and roll it out on the surface of your choice

7.once you have rolled out the paint until it is left with a bubbly pattern place the polystyrene board onto the paint and firmly press it with any flat surface which is heavy to make sure the pattern is fully covered

8.pick the polystyrene board up and place on the different color paper of your choice

9.repeat this as many times as you want with different color paper and paint

Roly Polys actually aren't bugs at all. They are terrestrial Crustaceans. And they're related to shrimp.
2. Their color ranges, from gray to brown. Sometimes they are two toned because are molting. The back half molts and then the front half. They molt 4 to 5 times in their lives

4.The purple/blue roly poly is sick if you find it like this. The color is caused by the retrovirus which causes crystals to form beneath the roly poly's exoskeleton. The virus is not dangerous to humans.

It depends on the type of pill bug. The common pill bug or 'Armadillidium_vulgare' is more resistant to dry conditions than most other types of pill bugs but still needs to be misted at least once a day or until the habitat bedding (I use potting mix) is damp and moist but not too wet.

Woodlice are not dangerous to rabbits, but if a rabbit's hutch is infested with woodlice, that is not a good thing because it means it's not very clean or comfortable. Rabbits should have a clean habitat that's basically free of bugs, although one or two woodlice crawling through will not cause any harm.
