X-Ray

Invented by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895, X-ray imaging is used in hospitals to detect fractures to bone, as well as abnormalities to soft tissues.

How does a nurse use math in x ray?

They dont, nurses dont take xrays! Radiologic technologist take xrays!

Why do hospitals use x rays instead of radio waves for looking in peoples bodies?

Radio waves (along with magnetism) are used for that purpose instead of x-rays in MRI machines. x-rays are absorbed by the body differently than radio waves, so it depends on what in the body is being looked at.

Can your dad go into the X-ray with you?

Generally speaking, no one is allowed to be with you when you get an X-ray.

Your dad or another person who is there to support you will have to wait at least behind the shield used by the individual taking the X-ray, if not outside in a waiting area. It isn't like someone in the room with you is at risk, but the issue is one of needless exposure. If you are not the one getting the X-ray, you wait somewhere behind a shield or at some distance from where the imaging is going on. It's a "rule" associated with the equipment, and those who use it make sure it's enforced.

Why do x-ray technicians wear lead aprons?

X-rays can damage cells, and may eventually promote cancer. The younger the person, the more important it becomes to avoid unnecceasry exposure.

However, this risk is quite small, so usually it's worth the risk of an x-ray for the chance of a better diagnosis to what's wrong with you.

Why in X-Ray's opinion was the second hole the hardest to dig?

because the first hole is hard to dig and u get many blisters when you dig the second hole u will get more blisters and be more tierd.

How many rads are in a dental X-ray?

The exposure one receives from a radiograph/x-ray at the dentist is dependent upon what type of x-ray is taken and how many. Dental x-rays of any kind are much safer/lower radiation exposure than most medical x-ray exposures, especially including CT scans.

CT scan of your head ~ 200 mrem

CT scan of the heart ~ 2,000 mrem

Dental Bitewing ~ 0.5 mrem

(you typically receive about the same or more radiation annually from living in the mountains (closer to outter space) compared to someone at sea level, as you do during a dental x-ray (both of which are typically less than a 1/6th your usual annual exposure to radiation from the environment).)

The function of a rheostat in an x-ray generator is to?

It is used to adjust the tube current. The means that the cathode will have a variable potential difference with the anode and will therefore be able to strip more or less electrons and hence produce a greater or fewer amount of x-rays.

What can cause distortion or magnification in an x-Ray?

Size distortion has to do with magnification. Increased SID decreases distortion especially is it's within the appropriate range for the part. (ie 40/72). Increasing OID is most detrimental and increases distortion. Angling the tube increases SID HOWEVER, it increases distortion. Angling the tube also increases distortion for shape. If the part and IR are not properly *aligned or *centered, this also increases distortion. Shape distortion has to do with elongating or foreshortening a part on the image.

Does the US post office x-ray all mail?

No. Imagine how long it would take to do that. Packages destined for Washington D.C are scanned and if considered suspicious by Post Office they may x-ray it but vast majority goes unscanned. Though dogs in major cities are on duty so don't send anything illegal....at least if it smells.

Chest x-ray shows a scratch in my lung?

If a chest x-ray shows a scratch on the lung it may be an indication of an infection. A radiologist or physician would inform the patient of further treatment methods.

Can an x-ray be copied using a regular photocopy machine?

An x-ray image on paper or film can be copied using a photocopy machine, but the copy may not be as clear and useful to a specialist wanting to use the x-ray image.

An actual x-ray, the radiation used to make an x-ray image, cannot be copied.

Does a digital X ray expose the patient to less radiation than traditional film X ray?

yes 1 xray give off 1 milirem there are 1,000 milirem in a rem U get more radition from the sun If you work at a nuclear plant you can get 80 milirem a day so please don't worry about xrays at all.please remember that the room have lead in the wall to prevent it from going all over and the xray tech where monitors so they can measure their exposure they are at no risk though

What is used for making x-ray sheets?

X-ray sheets are primarily made from materials that can effectively absorb and transmit X-rays, such as lead or lead composites. Additionally, film-based X-ray sheets often incorporate a special emulsion that reacts to radiation. Modern digital X-ray systems may use flat panel detectors or image plates that contain photostimulable phosphors to capture X-ray images. These materials work together to ensure clear and accurate imaging for diagnostic purposes.

X-rays are often used to see if a person has a broken what?

Bones. If they have cracks in their bones, then the cracks will show up on an X-ray.

Gamma rays and x rays are useful when used in?

Well , Gamma rays and X rays are both harmful and destructive in nature , but have significant advantages.

1. Gamma rays can destroy cancer cells and can treat cancer patients.

2. X rays can be used to check the human body for fracture , to treat the patient.

What manufacturer makes the best x-ray equipment?

Type your answer here... I would say either Siemens, Philips or Toshiba. I have been an x-ray technologist for close to ten years and have worked with GE, Siemens, Toshiba, Philips, Fuji, Shimadzu and Kodak.

Siemens = user friendly, durable, ergonomic, tried-and-true

Philips = superior images, user friendly, solid

Toshiba = fast image processing, durable, built to last

GE = over-rated, software issues, system freezes constantly, over-priced

Kodak = too slow

Fuji = can't say anything bad about Fuji, build great x-ray equipment
