Generally speaking, no one is allowed to be with you when you get an X-ray.

Your dad or another person who is there to support you will have to wait at least behind the shield used by the individual taking the X-ray, if not outside in a waiting area. It isn't like someone in the room with you is at risk, but the issue is one of needless exposure. If you are not the one getting the X-ray, you wait somewhere behind a shield or at some distance from where the imaging is going on. It's a "rule" associated with the equipment, and those who use it make sure it's enforced.

The exposure one receives from a radiograph/x-ray at the dentist is dependent upon what type of x-ray is taken and how many. Dental x-rays of any kind are much safer/lower radiation exposure than most medical x-ray exposures, especially including CT scans.

Siemens = user friendly, durable, ergonomic, tried-and-true

Philips = superior images, user friendly, solid

Toshiba = fast image processing, durable, built to last

GE = over-rated, software issues, system freezes constantly, over-priced

Kodak = too slow

Fuji = can't say anything bad about Fuji, build great x-ray equipment
