I think you do have to pay for the xbox live, however it will need to be by credit card on the official xbox site. but i do think that the codes are interchangable between original and 360. however you cannot directly use a xbox live 360 code on the original xbox, you will need to redeem it on the xbox 360.

Not really. You only need an xbox live card. you can get them at wal-mart. you can, however purchase Microsoft points to download certain material once you have xbox live. it is optional. i don't really use Microsoft points much at all.

Well I connected my to a modem, first plug your internet cable into the wall then into the modem, then get an ethernet cable (Comes with pro and elite console packages) and plug it into the modem and the back of the xbox.

if you want real answers i would go to a user created website and and look at some hacks previously made. make sure you do not give your details to Microsoft because they will track your actions and then maybe shut down your account. um just go a recently created website and follow instructions from there.
