Yosemite National Park

The zoo keeps animals in captivity, within artificially created habitat, whereas the sanctuary provides home to animals in their natural habitat without captivity. Zoo is a park made to put the animals on display for the public, that is it's purpose. It is an institution designed to exhibit living animals to the public in a park setting. While a Wild Life Sanctuary is a protected area reserved for animals to live a natural, undomesticated life without threat or intrusion by humans through hunting, trapping, etc. or otherwise disturbing their habitat, and protected lands.

Sequoia groves, endangered flora and fauna, and the geographical features are all protected in Yosemite. Examples of endangered animals in Yosemite include the Sierra wolverine and the Sierra Nevada Red Fox.

The distance from Portland, Oregon to Yosemite National Park is 684 miles. This means a drive of about 12 hours non-stop should be expected to get to and from the two places.

It is located in the Mountain region. I know this because I am still in 4th grade and we just learned this so I am fresh. I was looking this up for homework, because that was our assignment.

The climate of Yosemite in the summer is generally hot and warm in the day while being cool at night and in the early morning hours. You should bring rain gear as there may be isolated thunderstorms around the park during the summer as weather changes rapidly at the park's high elevations.

In what direction is Yosemite National Park from Sacramento?

Yosemite is far better for sightseeing and hiking. It has some of the highest waterfalls, most unique rock formations, and the biggest trees on Earth.

Yellowstone is mostly flat and not very beautiful. After a day-or-two the geysers and smelly buffalo get old real quick.

Yosemite National Park is located in Sierra Nevada, California and it stretches well over 400 miles. Home to majestic wonders like Yosemite Falls, the Giant Redwood Trees and Glacier Point, Yosemite is a great place to visit as there is so much to see and do.

In 1916, the U.S. named Yosemite as a National Park and it receives visits from over 3 million people annually.

You can fly into Fresno California or Mammoth lakes California, these are the two closest airports with airline service.

Yosemite is named after the indigenous people who had lived on the land before they were driven out. L. H. Bunnell is credited with coining the name Yosemite Valley, which leads to the name "Yosemite" used today.

Yosemite National Park is a national wonder. It has the tallest waterfall in North America and is one of the most interesting National parks in the system. It is an important tourist site, ecological site, and historical site thus, making it important to CA.

Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and biological diversity. Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness. Yosemite was central to the development of the national park idea. First, Galen Clark and others lobbied to protect Yosemite Valley from development, ultimately leading to President Abraham Lincoln signing the Yosemite Grant in 1864. Later, John Muir led a successful movement to establish a larger national park encompassing not just the valley, but surrounding mountains and forests as well - paving the way for the United States national park system.

They are on the opposite ends of the Sierra. Sequoia is above Visalia and Yosemite is above Fresno. Depending on where you are starting from the time frame is different. Let's say you are starting from Fresno to Yosemite by car. The drive up there will take you about 2 hours. It is a little over 100 miles from Fresno to Yosemite. Yosemite has a bus line you can catch from Fresno, but I am not sure where you catch it. One way to see Yosemite is to do two days. You could drive to the Bass Lake area, stay overnight and have dinner at Ducy's on the Lake and then go into the park the next day. If you are planning on camping on the floor of the valley you need to make reservations. Sequoia is about the same distance from Visalia, but Visalia is approx 50-60 miles south of Fresno. Your best bet is to take a day and go to Visalia and then drive up to the Sequoia big trees and see the General Grant. I am pretty sure there is a bus that will take you there from Visalia. Visalia is a fairly large city in the south valley so there is a lot to do and major hotels to stay. Visit the downtown section that is full of coffee houses and little shops. On weekend nights there are some live bands that play in the outdoor cafes and coffee houses. I live about 20 miles from Visalia and am a native of Fresno so that is how I know all of this. I have worked in Yosemite as well.

The driving distance between Los Angeles, CA and Yellowstone National Park, WY is approximately 1070 miles. The driving time would be approximately 18 hours if you were to drive non-stop in good driving conditions. (The driving time does not take into consideration conditions such as weather, road work and rush hour traffic in urban areas.)
