Sister Roux was the midwife, who, until doctors appeared in Bulawayo, the only Bulawayo maternity option. Literally thousands of babies were born there. She lived in the adjacent building 59b and was on call 24/7. In 1960 she passed away. The Lady Rodwell and Mater Dei hospitals took over the maternity intake. The buildings fell into disuse and are today 2009, settled with squatters.
