Most of the economy in the Middle East consists on Oil and oil based industry:
Saudi Arabia's economy is largely based on the oil, very little industry there except what is related to oil extracting or refining.
Iran also has an Oil based economy, although the last few years, Iran has taken many steps to diversify its economy and industrialize.
Don't get me wrong, there is farming in the middle east- their economy is just based on oil rather.
Hope that helps
