YES> I can't speak for his experience, but in FLA at least, WC lasts your lifetime, unless you settle. (and NEVER settle!) While being on WC almost makes you bulletproof from getting terminated (until they get enough paperwork to cover their own behinds), being fired doesn't mean you lose benefits. They are still required to pay for treatment, medication, and travel. The only reason I'm aware of that you'd lose benefits in relation to a job termination is if it was found you were At Fault for the accident. The same rule applies for Unemployment Compensation. It is a huge crap sandwich, but it is possible to get fired for getting injured on the job, and wind up on unemployment. I don't recommend it.

It will depend on your state's worker's comp law. Each state varies. Each Workers comp agency has a webpage to answer your question. If you had medical bills from the fall, Workers comp will usually cover the medical cost if you filed a report with the employer when it happened.

Do I pay workers comp back for all my bills?

Your employer pays into Worker's Compensation during the year to cover work related injuries and the related bills that come along with them. There are a few reasons why you may have to pay worker's comp back, but that is usually when you have filed false claims or had services done for things that were not related to the injury you sustained at work. If you still have questions then I'd suggest calling your worker's comp case worker that is assigned to your claim. You should have received something from them in the mail about who that contact person is.

How do you figure the cost of workman's comp into payroll?

Worker's compensation is calculated by the type of job an employee does. Each job classification is rated by the underwriter according to risk, then the worker's comp premium is multiplied by the gross dollar amounts paid to employees. An officer of a corporation and other select employees can opt out of worker's comp. Also, if an employee works overtime, the straight time is subject to worker's comp, but the "half" of "time and a half" is not.

I was injured on the job and had surgery and now i am still having problems what can you do?

You need to get back in touch with your worker's compensation doctor. If you have already been released from the worker comp doctor, you should talk to your employer first.
