Europe saw the formation and destruction of a number of countries (for example, the formation and breakup of Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, West Germany, East Germany, Serbia and Montenegro, the Soviet Union, etc.). Europe also saw large economic boom. But what Europe mostly gained was a sense of unity, which didn't truly happen until the formation of organizations such as the European Coal and Steel Community, European Economic Community, and the European Union. The European countries, especially the Western ones, are now more united than ever and may even fuse together as one nation in the future (the European Union or possibly just Europe).
