They open their mouths and with a litle help from their larynx words come out. Most Scots speak English and some, particularly in the western isles, also speak Scottish Gaelic. Of course there are also Scots from other ethnic backgrounds who may also speak other languages and there are foreign language students too.
The official language of the United Kingdom (which includes Scotland) is English. People in Scotland have quite a strong accent which varies slightly from city to city and some use dialect (non-standard English) words and phrases.
