Bilateralism could beginning as the conduct of relations between states in such a way that equidistant with all super powers is maintained. That three should not be a tilt towards any specific power.During that period, Pakistan lessened its dependence on the western alliance system and developed close and cordial relations with China as an alternative source of support against India.
Pakistan's reappraisal of the pro-western foreign policy orientation was carried further during the Second Indo-Pakistan War of 1965. The United States adopted an even-handed policy towards the Pakistan and India and subsequently suspended military assistance to both countries.
