The other colonies helped by sending food, and sheep. Virginia also set aside a day to pray since King George III closed off Boston Harbor.
The first Continental Congress
The people of the colonies threw the tea in to the Boston Harbor. We have called this the Boston Tea Party.
The British started to tax the colonists on everything.
The Colonies boycotted English goods.
The Boston Massacre occurred in March of 1769.
The starting event can be gaged from the Boston Tea Party. The king closed the Boston port to ships as punishment and this created a cause/effect type of situation. Thus, on April 19, 1775 the first shots of the war were fired in Lexington and this lead to Bunker Hill. After these two events the British began to realize that the colonies were serious about revolting. Finally, on July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was written and signed. Now, the colonies were totally in revolt.
This was a result of the Puritans choosing to leave England in favor of a land more tolerant of religious views.
On December 16,1773,members of the Sons of Liberty went onto three ships filled with tea. They dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor. This event is called the Boston Tea Party.
They weren't linked. The only thing is they both happened in Boston and were years apart. The Boston Massacre was spun by Paul Revere in hand bills to create distrust between the colonies and the British. The events we think we know for the massacre and the tea party are NOT what really happened. Watch the history channel program on the Boston Massacre in the series unknown history.
Because
Two important events happened in Boston that became part of the history of the United States. One was the "Boston Massacre". This was the shootings that took place there by the British army against Bostonians who were unhappy with British policies in the American colonies. Another significant event was the "Boston Tea Party". There in the Boston harbor, American "patriots" protested tea taxes and other taxes by throwing tea into the Boston harbor.
Tax them even further. This would be one of the events that led to the Boston Tea Party and later the Revolutionary War.
