According to the CIA World Factbook and the U.S. Department of State, 50% of Mongolia's population follow Tibetan Buddhism, 40% are listed as having no religion, 6% are Shamanist and Christian, and 4% are Muslim. Tibetan Buddhism is the body of Buddhist religious doctrine and institutions characteristic of Tibet. It includes the teachings of the three vehicles of Buddhism: the Foundational Vehicle, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. The goal of spiritual development in Tibetan Buddhism is to achieve enlightenment in order to most efficiently help all other sentient beings attain this state.
