I collect coins and bills and i have a coin from 1909 but i highly doubt that's the oldest coin!
A total of 20 at present- 19 on coins and one (Grant) only on paper . Two others were on bills that have been withdrawn from circulation. A Grant coin is scheduled to come out later this year. This US mint is in the process of issuing a series of one-dollar coins that will honor each president in turn, except for those that are still living.

Current U.S. copper-nickel coins are almost all only worth their face value. There are a few error coins among the state quarters but nearly all have been found, so it's unlikely that you'll get one in change.
