When Barack Obama was ten years old, he moved from Hawaii to Indonesia to live with his mother, Ann Dunham, after she married Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian man. This move significantly impacted his early life and exposure to different cultures.
They moved to Hawaii. Barack's maternal grandparents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham, moved from El Dorado, Kansas to Seattle and then they moved to Honolulu; it is there that their daughter (Stanley Ann) met and married the man who became Barack Obama's dad.

Barack Obama is the best president on the world, is perfect and his heart is big.
In 1967, Barack Obama was six years old and moved with his family from Hawaii to Jakarta, Indonesia where his stepfather was from.
His mother was remarried to a man from Indonesia and Barack Obama moved there with his mother and new step father.
He has said that he barely speaks any of it and can only recall a few words. Not well at all. Indonesia is a country where a young Barack Obama, his mom and his new step-dad moved when the future president was five years old. While young Barack did learn some of the language (which is called Indonesian, and is derived from the Malay language), he has said that he no longer remembers much of it, because he has not lived in Indonesia since he was ten years old.
Before he moved to DC he lived in Chicago, IL
The young Barack moved back to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents, who continued to raise him throughout the rest of his childhood.
His mom and dad met at the University of Hawaii, and thus, the future president was born in Hawaii. He also lived much of his life there, except for four years in Indonesia, from when he was six to when he was ten. He moved back to Hawaii and moved in with his grandparents, living with them from about age eleven until he graduated from high school.
If you are referring to his biological father, Barack Obama Sr., he was not in his son's life much at all. He came to Hawaii to study, married Anne Dunham (Barack's mom), and they had a son (the future president). But Barack Sr. did not remain in that marriage for very long. He abruptly left Hawaii and moved to Massachusetts when young Barack was only two years old. Young Barack only saw his dad one time after that. Barack Sr. remained in Massachusetts and studied at Harvard, working towards his PhD. There are conflicting reports about why he didn't receive it, but in the end, he left Harvard and moved back to Kenya. Young Barack remained in Hawaii till age 5, at which time his mom (who had remarried) moved to Indonesia to live with her new husband.
