Following the end of Swainson's term as Governor, George W. Romney (born July 8, 1907 in Galeana, Mexico; died July 26, 1995 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) became the forty-third Governor of Michigan, serving between January 1, 1963 and January 22, 1969.
