Yes indeed, very much so- thousands of photographs were taken during the conflict, some of them very moving, and some of them very graphic and chilling (even today, some of those taken are too gruesome to be shown to the general public). They serve to bring home to modern folks how devastating and massive the war was- photos taken of some towns in the aftermath of heavy shelling look like the ruins of Hiroshima or Dresden.
