These poets had written of the Laws of Nature-"that they are endowed by their creator with certain, unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." The Declaration of Independence often mentioned these "unalienable rights", for Jefferson did not want to mention specific religions.
