the climate was warm in the spring, hot in the summer, warm/cool in the fall and cold in the winter. the soil in the middle colonies area was perfect for growing crops because it was really fertile, so they mainly grew food like wheat or rye. New York was one of the main food providers of the entire east coast back then. finally, religion was very diverse because a lot of people came to America to escapse religious persecution, but there were a lot of puritans (the pilgrims) in Massachusetts. the puritans were really strict, so some people founded a place they called Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. New York was also a place for religioius freedom.

hope this helps! :)
