God

CorrectionContrary to popular misconceptions, the phrase In God We Trust didn't appear on any US coin until 1864 when it was put on 2¢ pieces minted during the Civil War. In fact, it didn't permanently appear on nickels until 1938.

A review of coin designs at CoinFacts.com shows that the only words to appear on all denominations of US Coins are the country's name, United States of America (or variations). Even the word Liberty didn't appear on all coins, especially when they carried an image of Miss Liberty. Examples of coins without the word include early nickels, dimes up till 1916, and modern Presidential dollars.
