beryl is usually found in pegmatite of different kinds.
Beryllium is the element found in the mineral compound beryl.
Beryl can be found in various places around the world including Brazil, Colombia, and the United States. It is commonly mined in areas where pegmatite rocks are prevalent, as beryl is a common mineral found in these types of geological formations.
Beryl is typically found in igneous and metamorphic rocks, with its formation most commonly associated with pegmatites in igneous rock formations. However, beryl can also be found in some sedimentary environments where it forms as a result of the erosion and re-deposition of beryl-bearing rocks.
Important minerals of beryllium: beryl, chrisoberyl, phenakite, bertrandite.

No, because of geology. In fact there is only minimal production of emerald in all of North America; the pinnacle of production would be North Carolina. Beryl is common enough, even blue and pink beryl have been found in fabulous specimens in various US states, but the green variety called emerald is most unusual in North America. For more info see Emerals and Other Beryl's by John Sinkankas. It's dated, but very thorough.
Aquamarine is a form of the mineral beryl.
Beryl can be found in alluvial deposits from erosion out of pegmatite veins. This is the easy way, sorting through sand and gravel. The hard way is to attack the granitic pegmatite with tools and see what's inside.
