An investment consortium would be formed. Let's start in England. A ship would be purchased and a crew hired, a cargo of rum and other necessities would be shipped to Africa. The cargo would be exchanged for slaves, which would then be transported to a number of ports where cheap labour was required. A notable market was the southern states in America to fill the need for workers in the cotton fields.

A cargo of cotton would be loaded aboard and shipped home to England to feed the production mills of England. And so it went...profits, profits, profits for the investors in the consortium.

Eventually, the hue and cry became so vociferous in England over the inhumanity of the slave trade, that England outlawed it. British worships interdicted slavers on the high seas and brought them to England for justice. The whole system finally collapsed when the stench of slavery began to out weigh the desire for profits, and good and honest people brought moral authority to bear against the practice.
